Two days in New York City
Jenny was happy to conveniently forgot her scheduled appointment with Dr. Samson, but leave it to Rob to have it on his calendar. The day before, she was notified that she would be collected at 6am and delivered to the S.H.I.E.L.D. transport for the New York run.

She tossed a few items into her shoulder bag along with a new book. She didn't need anymore than that as Rob had kept their leased apartment in New York. Between his monthly trips back to New York and her infrequent traveling, he said it was worth hanging onto it. Everything she might need was already there.

A note was posted on the refrigerator so the team would know she would be in the States for a couple of days. She also included a post script asking Leech to make sure Yankee Clipper was fed. She really hoped Quinn would continue to be tolerant and not turn YC into a fluffy orange and white throw pillow.

In New York, she had time to shower and change clothes before presenting herself at Dr. Samson's office promptly at 3pm. Each time she had one of these appointments she hoped it would be the last. Each time he said he would see her again in three months. At least this time she would have something different to contribute to the conversation.

"Cheesecake and demigod prefer you, too." he grins, taking a bite of his omelet. His eyebrows rose at how good it was. He would definitely come here again when he was in New York again.

"How is the corned beef hash? I don't think I've ever had it before, but it smells good." he says.

"Never? You've missed out." Jenny offered a forkful of chopped meat she'd mixed with the egg. "It's a favorite of mine. Comfort food."

"Well, I'm glad you came along to open my eyes to such a great tasting food." Andy grinned, accepting a bite.

"It's the least I can do to show my appreciation for the new taste treat you shared with me." She smiled and offered another bite. "Do you have a weekend breakfast tradition in your family?"

"Mom and I used to do bacon waffles when she didn't have court or wasn't out punching some bad guy in the face and head repeatedly." Andy says.

"I've also gone out and hunted breakfast with my dad and brother, too. But most weekends, I had breakfast by myself." Andy tells her.

Jenny leaned in and kissed his cheek. The mental image of young Andy (not small, surely he'd never been that) made her a little sad.

"Next time, I have another place I want to share with you. The best stuffed sour cream blinis you'll ever have. You will give me anything I ask once I introduce you to blini delights."

"You think you'll have to go as far blinis, do you? Well, I'm interested now." Andy grinned.

"Keep eating. I need another image to commit to memory." he says.

Cheeky smirk. "You have no idea how far I'll go to spoil you with my favorite things."

She returned to her meal, reminded how little time they had left. When the waiter put the bill down between their plates, she immediately reached for it.

Andy reaches out to catch her hand, lacing his fingers with hers.

"I would appreciate it if you let me take of it this time. I did stay at your place for three days and all. I'll get this one, and you get the next one? That way we have yet another reason to see each other again." Andy says.

His mother raised him to forget the silly notion of not letting a woman pay, but his father also raised him to be as chivalrous as possible.

He, of course, turns on his best puppy-dog expression at this moment to ensure he gets his way.

The puppy dog expression gains him a lot with her. She can't resist, but she can strike a deal.

"Your word, handsome?"

"Very well. You have my word that, at our next meeting, you can pay for the meal." Andy says.

"Of course, we've got to seal this deal with a kiss, or it won't be legal." he smiles.

"I'm fond of your skills in deal-making, myself." Andy says, kissing her quickly, then going back to his food. He offers her bites of his omelet if she wants more, but spends the meal smiling at her and simply enjoying her company.

He has no clue how he's going to get through the next month, but he'll find a way. Maybe he'll even let Titan out more.

Jenny ate most of her meals alone on a regular basis, though she was starting to share more of them with the team. With Andy it was playful and satisfying. Getting through the next month was going to be hard.

Leaving the diner, she took his hand and turned him in the right direction for the bookstore down the block. "How long did you live in New York before making the move to Los Angeles? We could have passed each other on the street many times without realizing it."

"I've lived in New York almost all my life, except for a couple of moves, but we ended up back here. I only moved to L.A. to look for a new start." Andy says.

"Funny how I found it here after all."

Jenny sgueezed his hend and could not stop smiling. Everytime he said something like that she wanted to climb into his arms and tell the world to go away.

"Keep talking like that and you can have your wicked, cheesecake way with me any time you want."

The bookstore was a little on the dusty, cluttered side, the air scented with old paper and lavender. It wasn't chain-store large, but a lot more inviting to the serious reader.

Jenny turned the handle. "Prepare to want to move in forever."

Andy smiles at the cheesecake comment; she's going to get herself in trouble before long, talking like that.

The inside of the bookstore is like a Heaven on Earth to Andy. He looks around, taking in the sights of all the shelves.

"Okay, so...if I move in here, will you come stay the night regularly?" he asks.

"I've got...books we can read to pass the time." he smirks.

"So often I'd have my own pillow," she agreed, laughing. She dropped his hand to go to the shelves to touch worn book spines and read titles. "Would you read aloud to me from your books...to pass the time?"

"I wasn't sure if you'd like me reading aloud to you. Since I know you're okay with it, I'll do it." Andy says.

"Do you have any suggestions from your reading list that I should pick up? I'm going to need a couple of good ones to get me through the next month." he says.

"I have an idea. I'll pick out a couple of books for you, and you pick out some for me." She looked back at him from around a corner shelf. "I'd love to hear you read to me some time. You have a great voice."

"You've got a deal. I think I know a couple of books you might like." he says, then heads off toward the fantasy section. He returns with a couple of books from the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin.

"I think you'll like these to start out with. I'll read to you a little bit tonight before it's time, and then you can imagine me reading them when you're back home." Andy says.

Jenny found a couple of older books from one of her favorite authors, Ken Follet. She liked the mysteries set in different time periods, finding them both well written and engrossing.

"Don't say it like that. Say you'll read to me a little tonight, and then more in a month when we're together again."

He was spoiling her far too much, and she wasn't going to stop him.

She smiled back. "That's better, Mr. Walters." She paused to kiss him before going to the register to pay for the books she selected.

He accepts the kiss, then remembers something that should go with every book, and turns around to get her two bookmarks with cats. He finds two that look like orange-white balls of fur, and brings them to the counter.

"Maybe YC will like these when you're reading?" Andy suggests.
