It isn't a party until someone bleeds.
Portals, teleportation spells and ways are useful but when it comes to getting down to a suspicious club in the darker neighborhoods of Chicago, SUV was more efficient.  It would also trigger fewer magical sensors so if Vitae was tuned to such things, arriving by car would give them a few moments advantage over the shadowy figures suspected to be murderers for Dracula.

Shelly couldn't help but think of Charlie Manson as she turned the last corner and parked her SUV in the darkness down the street from the club.  A maniacal leader, brainwashed followers carrying out horrific deeds for master.

"Okay.  Yeah.  This place gives me the creeps.  Let's go see if we can get in.  The website said it was a private club, right?  Most of those are pretty strict.  There's this place, The Mercury in Seattle...definitely not stranger friendly.  Grab your equipment folks."

Shelly herself took a deep breath and said a few quick prayers to the loa before getting out of the car and heading up to the door.  There was a guard there, pale and creepy looking as all of the rest of the cultists they'd encountered had been but instead of stopping them, the man smiled darkly and opened the door without a word.  In fact no words were exchanged at all, just that creepy smile.

Shelly's blood ran cold.  This...wasn't good.

Dracula snarls, shifting to mist in an instant, letting the blast pass through him. "Really, Janus?" he asked as he reformed. "We've contested before, you and I. You failed then and you shall fail now."

He struck with amazing speed, a backhanded slap at Matt's head.

All thought processes had stopped. Greg was acting on instinct and it was telling him to rip apart anything moving that got in his way. He grabbed another vampire and ripped its throat out with his sharp teeth.

Michelle fought her way past the nearest vampire, claws shredding his stomach as she cleared a path towards Shelly. "We've got to get her out of here," she told Karen.

Lynch started laying down some cover fire. She was going for heart shots with the wooden bullets and making sure not to hit any of her allies. Screw retreating she was sick and tired of running.

The backhand slap catches Matt by surprise, and he hits a nearby wall hard. His duster protects him from the worst of it, he's standing again immediately.

"FUEGO!" Matt yells, launching a lance of flame at Dracula.

The anger and such keeps his mind off the fact that Dracula knows his True Name. How could he possibly know that? Only a wizard's parents could know his True Name.

It does a father's heart good to see his son returned to him at last...

No. It wasn't possible. Ian would tell him something like that.

Matthew, there are things you have yet to know, things that I've been preparing you for...

Matt's anger clouds his magic now, and the lance of fire becomes an river of flame.

"DIE!" he yells at Dracula.

The fire burned and even Dracula, one of the eldest vampires to walk the Earth, one of the most powerful, still felt pain. Great pain. Few beings had humbled him so. Stephen Strange. The Silver Surfer. ...and Janus.

He forced himself to walk through the flames, transformed into a monstrous bat creature as he did, the flames burning the fur and filling the air with a foul stench. He lashed out with his claws.

Trusting Karen to watch her back, Michelle scooped up Shelly.

She spared just a second to look back, then quickly looked away. It was horrible. All horrible.

Greg ripped apart vampire after vampire. Their fangs did no damage to him, but his fangs and claws easily shredded their flesh. The black magic being thrown across the room only increased his frenzy. Blood spurted in great founts.

Shelly groaned, and looked towards Matt.

"We gotta get out of here...fire..."

The building had started to ignite along the walls.

Matt's shield came up between him and Dracula, turning aside the vampire's claws. Between the vampire before him and the werewolf behind him, Matt knew he was in for a bad night if he got caught between them.

"Lynch, Michelle! Get Shelly to the car and get her to a hospital. Don't worry about me and Greg!" Matt yells.

Matt chucks a bit of spell fire at Greg next.

"Hey, I got a big nasty vamp over here for you to chew on! Come on!" Matt says, not certain if Greg is even still home.

The casting of the spell helped to put the werewolf into more of a frenzy. The fire hit him and while it didn't hurt him, it got his attention. He snarled viciously and bounded over to attack. He had been going for Matt, but then the big bad caught his attention. Werewolves and vampires were bitter enemies. He launched himself at Dracula.

The flames hurt him and his loyal followers were quite dead. Even in his pained and hurting state, Dracula retained his agility, sidestepping Greg's hurling form.

"There will be a reckoning for this, boy," he snarled at Matt. "You have Dracula's word on that."

The flames were rising now, the building a total loss. He flapped his wings, hard, smashing through the ceiling and into the night.

Michelle, meanwhile, had gotten Shelly out and to the car. Leaving Greg and Matt behind didn't feel right... but there was no way any of them could have handled that shit.

While she wants to go back inside and help out Lynch stays outside. She covers the doors for any escaping unfriendlies.

Count on a vampire to run before the fighting gets good.

Count on a werewolf to go ballistic on anything that moves, friend or foe.

Count on a wizard to set a building on fire in order to clear it out.

Count on Matt Walker to get himself in a situation that somehow includes all three.

Matt looks at Greg and begins quickly weaving a protective spell of the non-black magic variety around himself.

"Nice wolfie..." Matt says soothingly to the raging beast before him.

"I fucking hate vampires," Shelly croaked, then looked up at Michelle. "...actual vampires," she clarified. Her skin was very pale and she was obviously not well but at least she had her personality.

"Ugh. This is going to scar."

The werewolf howled in frustration when his target flew away. The fire didn't seem to phase him and he looked around. The next thing to move caught his attention and he attacked.

Cue Next Thing To Move.

Matt doesn't want to hurt Greg, but werewolves are vicious, nasty creatures on their best days. One good shot and Greg will be chewing on his innards.

Matt balls a fist, reaches back, and draws in all the kinetic energy he can in one movement, then aims for Greg's nose.

"FORZARE!" Matt yells, using another white magic spell to push the werewolf far enough away to give himself some breathing room.

In this state the werewolf was invulnerable to damage, but he was still pushed back from the force of the hit. Then came the spell and he went slamming into a far wall.

The werewolf growled viciously and snarled, once again on the attack by bounding across the room.

The building is coming down faster than Matt expected, and Matt knows it's now or never.

He let's Greg bound toward him, reciting the incantation for a teleportation spell he remembers. Luckily, he knows a nice patch of forest Greg can cool out outside of town where he won't hurt anyone.

When Greg gets close enough, Matt teleports them both out of the building.

Greg will end up on the outskirts of town where there are only trees and black magic.

Matt ends up outside the club, having passed out in the street from all of the energy he's expended today.

"No offense taken," Michelle assured Shelly. She wondered what the hell was taking so long in there. She'd seen something--Dracula, she assumed--come out the roof, so why were Matt and Greg still inside?

Greg. She shivered involuntarily. She was grateful for the help he'd given her originally, but after what she'd seen, she wasn't sure she'd ever be able to look on him the same way, let alone trust him. Not when...whatever that had been lay somewhere inside him. She would never feel safe around him, knowing that.

She allowed herself a sigh of relief when Matt reappeared, even passed out. They'd done some good here today, she knew that. But she knew, just as deeply, that this wasn't even close to over.

There were still things that went bump in the night.

And it was time to start bumping back.
