Dawn was in desperate need of a shopping trip. Her separation from Asleif following the battle against Sutur had come as a relief, Asleif's decision to leave and charge her with watching out for her siblings and the others less so. In order to do so, Asleif had empowered her, an act that had left her in what even she would admit was the best shape of her life, but also a good six inches taller and more... built. Along with cramming an immense amount of magic--largely elemental--into her head.
So she was on borrowed and ill-fitting clothes for the moment, until she was ready to face people again on a shopping trip.
"Oh," she said, as she stepped onto the beach. "Didn't know you were out here."
