Familiar Faces.
Tina hadn't seen Cassidy since she lost consciousness in the Blackbird on the way home after Fargo and to say that it was a less-than-good way to see someone last was an understatement. It was made worse by Jake's death and while Tina was internally grieving that pretty hard---Jake had been one of her few friends--she knew Cassidy had to be going out of his mind. He had not gotten off on a good foot. Now that she was leaving for a mission, she knew she couldn't just go away for a bit without seeing him so after she met with Scott, Tina decided to track him down.

"Cassidy, you didn't hurt us. The guy chasing us pushed that button. If he'd stayed out of things and not tried to hurt me, things would have been fine. And I somehow don't think the people of Fargo would have survived anyway. Sinister would have gone after them. They'd seen too much.

"You will learn to control things. It will be okay. It's a process and you will come through this. I'm not going to let you wallow in fear and misery. You're a good person. I wouldn't have risked my life for you otherwise."

	"Why do you care so much about me?" Cassidy asks. This has made him curious since they met; most people only ever wanted to hurt him or make him do things to see how he'd react. Tina was genuinely nice to him, and he didn't know why. "I'm going to try my best, Tina. I don't want to hurt anyone else." he says. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Tina thought about Cassidy's question for a moment and as she did a silence filled the air. It was a fair question, but it was a difficult one for her. She'd kept her secrets pushed to the back of the mental closet for years and in the last week they'd come to the surface in the form of Namor showing up on her doorstep with explanations and fatherly love--as much as the xenophobic Atlantean could muster considering his noted crankiness (she secretly adored that about home.) Now here was Cassidy, asking for whys when the only why was to open up her secret again.

She took a deep breath.

"When I was a kid, my step-father routinely hurt me and then passed me out to his friends for them to hurt me, too. I know what it's like to be constantly hurt and tortured and wonder why no one cares about me and what I'd done to deserve the pain. I would have given anything for one person to care and to stop my suffering then. I would have given anything for a friend.

"You remind me of me. And I'm in a position to be the person I always wished would come save me for you. I'd adopt you if I could get away with it, Cassidy. I'm serious."

	Cassidy stares at Tina for a long moment. She'd just said aloud everything he'd felt over the last year. "You understand. I didn't think anyone could, but you do." he says. "If I had a mom, I'd want her to be like you." He smiles at that. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Tina smiled.

"I know exactly what to introduce you to then. Just sit tight. I'll be back in about thirty minutes or so." She hugged him a moment and then left, disappearing for the allotted half an hour. When she returned she carried with her a pretty big sack and a to-go tray with sodas.

"Since I didn't know what you like, I got you more or less one of each with all the fixings on the side."

In the bag was literally one of every option of Chipotle burrito. Her own was in a separate bag. Justin would be proud--she was going to attempt the carnitas.

	"I haven't since I was really little, Cassidy. My sister's vegan and she sort of went on a crusade about meat-eating in the house. I went along with it and it became a habit." She shrugged a little. "This is the first time I've had meat in a really long time. After awhile you don't miss it, but my boyfriend is a carnivore. So I figured I'd give this a try." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"Yeah, I have." Her face clouded. "He wasn't exactly thrilled at how banged up I was--and he saw me after I was healed up a great deal. I had to tell him a lie about how things went down.
