Jason lets that question hang in the air between them as they dance, while he figures out the best way to answer. What does he want from her? The easiest answer would be someone to spend time with. He told her before that sex wasn't foremost on his mind, mostly because has no experience with such.
He does, however, want more than she can give him now, and he has to wonder if she will ever see another person in the way she saw Qamar. She found something worth holding onto in him and now he was gone. She carried that with her. Perhaps he would always be between her and anyone she met from that day on.
A lesser man would call it a loss and move on. Perhaps even a wiser one. Jason's been called intelligent, but never wise.
