Without You I'm Not Okay (open)
Anya stood in Terminal B of Logan airport and stared at the screen of departures. She wasn't sure how exactly she ended up here, but she went for a drive and ended up at the airport. Her backpack with her laptop in it was over one shoulder and the only other things she carried was her small handheld which was computer and phone all in one. The only clothes she had were the clothes she wore.

She looked at the screen. Nothing stood out. There was no place she really wanted to go, but she knew she had to go somewhere. She didn't care where as long as she could get out of Boston for a few days and away from everything and everyone she knew.

The last two months were...they were the hardest of her life so far. She had been relatively okay as long as she kept busy, but not even she could fill every minute of every day. Downtime meant thinking about Steve and her heart would just hurt too much at the thought of him. She missed him so much and she had to wonder if he was ever coming back. She had to believe he was, but it was getting harder to keep the faith.

She went for a drive and ended up at the airport. Maybe getting away would do her some good. Her heart and head were no longer in school work or being a Thunderbolt and she wasn't interested in eating or sleeping. Alcohol didn't help keep the nightmares away anymore. She needed a break and needed to go to a place where she didn't know anyone and very few would recognize her.

Picking a place seemed to require too much thinking.

She stepped up to the counter of a random airline and looked at the woman behind the counter.

"Can I help you?" the woman asked.

For a second Anya thought about answering that with a line about only if the woman was a psychiatrist, but she didn't. "If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?" Anya asked.

The woman seemed surprised by the question. It took her a moment to reply. "Someplace warm with a beach of white sand," she answered.

Anya thought about the woman's answer. There were so many places that fit the bill. Anya had done extensive traveling in her life so far. "That sounds like what I need. Please get me a ticket to anywhere that fits the bill," Anya said. "Preferably out of the country."

The woman smiled. "I know just the place."

Anya handed over her passport and a credit card.

A few moments later Anya had her boarding pass in her hand and was heading for the gate to fly to St. Barthelemy in the Caribbean. She sent a message to Goddard and had him get her a private villa for a week and to also hire a housekeeper/cook.

Austin sputters. There's a good, logical reason that churro in coffee Just Isn't Done and he's going to tell Anya what it is...as soon as he makes it up.

"No, I will not be a party to defiling of an innocent churro." Austin says, which leaves her to pop it in his mouth any point while he's talking.

"Oh hush," she said and gently put it in his mouth.

Of course there would be pictures of her feeding him in the tabloids tomorrow. She just knew it.

Austin lets the food stop his mouth for two reasons: first, he realizes that this is probably going to end up in a magazine somewhere, same as Anya does.

The second and more important reason is that the coffee-dipped-churro actually /does/ taste pretty good. Of course, telling Anya this would invalidate everything he'd just said about it not being done so...he simply chews.

"You are a tricksy redhead. Has anyone ever told you that?" he asks in best Gollum voice.

She grinned. "Of course. I did come by it honestly though. I inherited it. How did you like it?" she asked as she dunked another piece in her coffee before popping it in her mouth.

"Perhaps we can adjust the law from 'Just Not Done' to...'Rarely Done'." Austin grins.

Anya chuckled. "I think that is totally doable," she said. "Should we start wandering toward the gate, Mr. Cain?"

"Yes, we should, Miss Stark. Soon, we'll be on a tropical island having lobster. That's a thought that makes me really, really happy." Austin says.

"Maybe there will even be time for swimming or diving." he surmises.

"Or jetskis. I love jetskis. Then again there's this thing with going fast that we have." Though nothing beat going Mach 8 in her suit. "I'm a speed junkie," she admitted as they started walking.

"I've never been on a jetski. Would you mind teachin' me a little bit?" Austin asks.

"Though, try not to go too fast. It's only my first time." he grins.

"They're a lot of fun," Anya said. "Though if the water is choppy you end up bouncing a lot. Don't worry," she said as she patted his arm. "I'll take good care of you and teach you."

"As long as I don't fall into the water and get eaten by sharks, I'm okay with that. Going through the life I've had and getting eaten by sharks just seems a waste." Austin says.

"How long did you say you were going to stay at the villa?" he asks.

"You won't," she assured him. "I've never fallen off of a jetski in my life." Pushed off was a different thing. Of course it may have had something to do with her pushing Misha off first.

She shrugged. "A few days. I have it rented for the week, but I do have classes I need to go to on Monday. I just needed a few days to clear my head."

"Cool. Yeah, I need out of the big city myself. I come from a small town, so the big cities tend to be a bit of a sensory overload from time to time." Austin says.

"You ever been to a small town at all?" he asks, betting the answer is 'no'.

"I guess the villages in the Alps where we go skiing qualifies as small towns," Anya said after a few moments of thinking about it. "Haven't really been to any here in the States though."

"We'll have to change that. Small towns are nice." he says, thinking of his own hometown.

"Sure, you can't get your five-dollar mochas and internet isn't always 4G, but life slows down so much out there that you can actually enjoy it for a change." he says.

"Life slow down?" Anya blinked. She couldn't process the thought of life slowing down. "It does that?"

"Yes. There are places in this country where there's no technology, or very little. Your phone won't get that sweet 3G connection. Some places that they didn't even build cell phone towers in.

People drive pick-up trucks and everyone knows your name. A night on the town is bowling or a movie." Austin says, watching Anya's expression. He wondered if she called such a place "Hell".

"For starters, I don't use a slow 3G or 4G connection," she said with a grin. "I have access to the Stark satellites, so I get a connection anywhere. I wouldn't mind a small town for a short period. What I would mind if there's no electricity or other comforts of civilization. I've gone camping a few times and it was complete and utter hell."

"Don't worry, there's running water, but you have to make your coffee yourself. No baristas to do it for you." Austin says.

"I'd like to see you without all your fancy gadgets, just once. You seem like you live life at high-speed, Anya Stark. I'd like to see you slow down just a little bit." he tells her.

"Yeah, I'm serious! I mean, what would do you if you ended up like those people on Lost? A deserted island, no technology and you had to live by your wits. Tell me that wouldn't be fun!" Austin says, his eyes lighting up.

"What do you say?" he asks.
