Happy Birthday!
Greg didn't know Shelly that well, so he opted with the tried and true gift. Chocolate and a gift card with three hundred dollars on it. He delivered them to her place and left them along with a card outside of her door when she didn't answer.

The only downside to being both a doctor and a Voodoo healer? Late night calls. Shelly had spent the night with a pregnant woman who, while she had a midwife, wanted her spiritual doctor there as well. The baby was born at six am, giving Shelly just enough time to go home and shower before heading to the hospital.

She almost tripped on the little package outside her door.

"Greg," she said when his voicemail picked up. "The chocolate and the gift card is amazing. Thank you so much. I think the chocolate is about to become my breakfast."

Shortly after she returned home, there would be a knock on Shelly's door. By the time she answered it, whoever it had been would be gone, but there would be a bouquet of black roses there for her.

A card read, My beautiful dark lady,

Know that you are never far from my thoughts and that I long for the day when you shall be mine. A day which shall come sooner than you think.

Shelly looked at the roses and then the card and her blood ran cold.

Then, she just got mad.

Dark lady? She knew Dracula was a lot of things, but racist was a surprise. The roses would promptly go into the trash...but not in her apartment for fear they'd enable the fanged one to breach her wards. She disposed of the roses downstairs.
