Re: Latveria
He waits until Vincent finishes his mouthful.
"Vincent. There are things I am about to tell you that have never been revealed to you. I trust you are old enough, and educated enough--" His eyes glance to Kristoff. "--to understand now.
Your birth was not unknown to Doom. Your mother, the Enchantress, sent word when she was with child. She stated you would be staying in her care in inflexible terms. There was no need to challenge her rights as your mother, nor any inclination by Doom to storm the Rainbow Bridge. More than that, an infant is not easily defended from enemies such as Doom has accumulated. You were safe."
A pause.
"You are a child of prophesied fate but also mortal blood. The timing of your arrival in Doomstadt was either fate or coincidence. There was no plan of Doom's at work in its doing."
His gaze flicks to Kristoff again.
"Your departure however..." One gauntlet tightens on the arm of his own chair. "In no way were you capable of penetrating the magical shields around Doomstadt, not at that age and not at that point in your tutelage. Someone facilitated your flight. Doom has knowledge of the few who could, and would, have done such a thing, but there has never been proof."
Vincent has gone pale, but has maintained his calm like a rock with water flowing over it.
"You are not the children you once were."
He openly looks between both of them.
"Doom is the monarch of Latveria, and Latveria is all that is Doom.
You, Vincent, by whatever name you deem fit to saddle yourself with, are appointed from this day forward, Regent of Latveria. Should Doom truly be absent, it's reigns move to you." A pause. "At such time, you may bring with you whomever you see fit to aid in your duties."
