Corey had his booksack over his shoulder when he knocked on the door to Argo's room one Saturnalia morning. "Argo? Can we talk?"

Argo was sleeping in, as was usual for him. He yawned, stretched, climbed out of bed, found enough clothing to be presentable, and answered the door.

"Ah, Corey," he beamed. "What can I do you for?"

"Of course," Argo said, stepping aside so Corey could enter. His room was probably cleaner than it had been in some time; having regular company, so to speak, made picking up after himself a bit more of a necessity.

Corey nods, but frowns. "We sure that's a good idea? I mean, if a bunch of weird stuff happened to you and people you love, would you want to know about it?" Corey thought of Andy's sword hidden in his own room now.

He frowns, but ultimately agrees to be honest with Corey. His friend had risked it all for him and deserved that much.

"Aye. In exchange for the passage given, I am to grant him one favor of his choosing."

Corey bit his lip. "If one of your other Uncles wanted Andy hurt, there's no way they'd get you to agree to it, right?"

"I hate talking about it behind Andy's back, Argo, but something in the inscription on his sword made it sound like someone in your family really has it out for Andy, and he didn't know about it until I said so .. and... well... if you ever think you ... have to let something happen....make..make sure you've got all your technicalities straight for sure, okay, dude?" Corey clutched at his arm a little.

He nodded. "I will be sure. You have my word."

"Well, I've got something for you. It's kind of against The Rules, so I hope you don't mind, but..." Corey pulls out a lyre he'd carved and strung, replicate his maternal grandmother's antique one, himself. "Io Saturnalia," he says sheepishly.
Traditionally, Saturnalia presents were only given to equals and subordinates or little kids. There were very old social taboos against getting one for a Superior or accepting one from an Inferior.

If Argo's surprised, he doesn't much let it show.

"It is beautiful," he says. "Thank-you, Corey. And sometimes... well, let us say the Rules were meant to be bent."

He nods slightly. "In all the chaos, I had almost forgotten the date was almost upon us. Fortunately, I thought ahead for once."

He had, in truth, put much thought into this back when Corey had first advised him on his romantic situation. Eventually, he had decided on something he knew Corey would appreciate.

"I had done this before, as a means of saying thanks... but it seems all the more appropriate now."

He rises and goes to his desk, opening a drawer and removing a certificate of ownership. He had actually researched this. Olympian gold could smooth things over quite easily.

He handed the certificate to Corey. "Two dozen acres of Amazon Rainforest, purchased and protected in your name. It shall never be harvested or cut down."
