A Night In
James had volunteered to babysit Nick while Tony, Mom and the rest of the family went to the big fancy party. James didn't like fancy parties and had eagerly volunteered to babysit. After Mom and Tony said he could, James of course asked Valeria if she wanted to come over and help him. James was by far not an expert babysitter and could always use an extra pair of hands.

Nick was fussy right after Mom and Tony left, but eventually he settled down. Coos and babbles replaced the crying. James thought he giggled, but Mom had said that was just gas. James thought his baby brother was neat and was having a good time babysitting him.

Nick eventually dozed off and James put him in his bed. He double checked the baby monitor and then joined Val on the couch.

	Val, while not an expert babysitter herself, had done enough were she could at least consider herself a novice at it. She helped James out with everything he needed her to, and thought that Nick was absolutely adorable. "He's a good baby," she said to him when he came back, cuddling up next to him on the couch. 	James was dozing when he heard Nick starting to fuss. He didn't move right away. Sometimes Nick just liked to babble and coo for a bit before he wanted someone to get him. James yawned and then dropped a kiss on Val's forehead. He smiled. Her body was against his and her head was on his chest. His arms around her and held her close. Right now life was perfect. "Yeah I should, but I'm so comfortable right now." He kissed her and then slid to the edge of the bed and sat up.

He wouldn't admit it, but the thought of a scene like this many years in the future popped into his mind. He and Val married and him getting up to go take care of their baby. It made him smile for a brief moment and then he grabbed his pants and pulled them on.

"Can I get you anything while I'm going to be up?"
