A Beautiful Sight, We're Happy Tonight, We're Walking In a Winter Wonderland (Midnight Sons)
Christmas. Yule. Saturnalia. Dies Natalis Solis Invicti. Many cultures have celebrated and still celebrate a winter festival. There have been many names for it over the millennia. No matter the name it is a time to come together and celebrate with feasts and gifts with friends and loved ones.

Each culture has a legendary figure who would deliver gifts to children during this time. In Russia and some Slavic cultures he is known as Ded Moroz, Grandfather Frost, and comes not on Christmas but on New Year’s along with his granddaughter Snegurochka, or ‘”Snow Maiden”. In the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe he is known as Father Christmas. In the Netherlands and Belgium he is known as Saint Nicholas or “Sinterklaas” and in France he is known as Père Noël. In the United States we know him as Santa Claus.

No matter the name or who is delivering gifts, it is the season of peace, joy and togetherness. It is the season for thinking about loved ones, friends and those less fortunate. It is a time to witness the goodness and generosity the human race is capable of. It is a time for peace on Earth and goodwill toward man.

	Karen went home to New York City to spend the holidays with her family whom she was really close too. But she did get Matt a little something of a joke gift for the holidays, a silver bullet with his name engraved on it. (Reply to this)

	Shelly was a little sad that most everyone had elsewhere to be for the holiday. Her dad was off in a pocket dimension with his wife so Shelly hunkered in for a Christmas at home in Chicago. Matt and Whisper were, of course, invited. Everyone else had presents waiting for them. (Reply to this)(Thread)

	Matt is terrible at Christmas shopping so he leaves everyone an IOU note for a random magical enchant of their choice at anytime for the next year. Matt says, showing Shelly the engraved silver bullet with his name on it. "It's both very scary and very awesome at the same time. Yes, it is." Matt says, leaning down to kiss Shelly. "It's very fitting is what that is." Shelly helped him out by lifting up slightly on her toes as he kissed her. "Ten bucks says she's got the gun ready to use it on your ass next time you do something exceptionally crazy."

Grinning, she stepped away from him.

"I got a bunch of food from Mac's. I wasn't sure if you were up for a big Christmas to-do and I had to get Whisper's present there anyway."

"It's crazy stuff. Really, Matt," she said as she moved to the kitchen and motioned for him to follow, "Whisper is a great dog. He deserves some spoiling. And he has great taste in women so why shouldn't I reward that?"

In the kitchen Shelly presents Whisper with his own cheeseburger before moving to Matt and wrapping her arms around him.

"You never told me what you wanted for Christmas, you know."

"What? No! Silly, I got you an actual gift. I made it myself." Matt says, reaching into the pocket of his duster.

He produces a rope bracelet with several silver charms upon it.

"Every time you move your arm, it will store a little bit of the kinetic energy from the movement, which you can use to shape into an impromptu shield." Matt says.

"But it's real purpose is two-fold. If you ever think you're in danger, it'll let you past the wards to my apartment. I guarantee you that if anything tries to force its way through the new wards I just put up, it's going to have a the mother of all shitty days.

That includes Dracula." Matt says.

"Also, if you channel a bit of energy into it, it will tell me where you are as long as you're not inside a place that's protected from scrying or a magical deadzone." Matt says.

"I just want you to be safe."

Taking the bracelet in her hands, Shelly looks it over with wide, surprised eyes.

"Matthew, this is so beautiful. And you made this?" She slipped it onto her wrist and turned her arm a bit for the silver charms to catch the light before capturing his face between her hands though she has to tiptoe to do so.

"You always make me feel safe. Now I can have you with me at all times." She kisses him, softly but deeply, a few tears on her cheeks.

"We had similar ideas, you and I." Moving away from him, she goes to get a small box inside of which are buttons.

"These buttons are for your duster. They're tokens that mark you as to be protected by the Loa."
