I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas Only a Hippopotamus Will Do (F4)
Christmas. Yule. Saturnalia. Dies Natalis Solis Invicti. Many cultures have celebrated and still celebrate a winter festival. There have been many names for it over the millennia. No matter the name it is a time to come together and celebrate with feasts and gifts with friends and loved ones.

Each culture has a legendary figure who would deliver gifts to children during this time. In Russia and some Slavic cultures he is known as Ded Moroz, Grandfather Frost, and comes not on Christmas but on New Year’s along with his granddaughter Snegurochka, or ‘”Snow Maiden”. In the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe he is known as Father Christmas. In the Netherlands and Belgium he is known as Saint Nicholas or “Sinterklaas” and in France he is known as Père Noël. In the United States we know him as Santa Claus.

No matter the name or who is delivering gifts, it is the season of peace, joy and togetherness. It is the season for thinking about loved ones, friends and those less fortunate. It is a time to witness the goodness and generosity the human race is capable of. It is a time for peace on Earth and goodwill toward man.

	Presents are left at the base, but Daniel has other plans this year. He does drop by long enough to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, then he's off to go meet Ellie for ice skating and lunch before the hockey game. Yeah, best Christmas ever. (Reply to this)

Vincent had always loved Christmas. He vaguely remembered the Yule celebrations in Asgard, and it was an observance in Latveria as well. He remembered taking in the whole spectacle with Kristoff, the year he first arrived in New York.

"It's all very... American, isn't it?

The presents were all distributed in the usual fashion; stockings, placement under trees, or cards in personal mailboxes. This year, there was to be something a bit personal as well.

He opened a channel to all pertinent parties on the comm-links, asking them to join him in the common area on the children's floor. Once everyone is gathered, he clears his throat and begins.

"I know that I have much to answer for within the past year, but first I have something to say to each of you." He looks around the room.

"Reed, Susan, the two of you let Kristoff take me in when perhaps all common sense would have commanded otherwise. It was made abundantly clear to me for all of my childhood that I belonged here no less than your own children. Thank you."

He looks to Franklin, Valeria, and Andrea next. "I know that when I chose to fight for Asgard, I hurt you all deeply. It was something I felt I had to do, and although I know that doesn't make it any less hurtful, I want you all to know that I apologize from the bottom of my heart. Furthermore, Franklin, Valeria, I know I upset you even more than others when I announced my change in name. It was not one I asked for, only what the All-father appointed to me. I never meant to insinuate that the name was mine by right. I have taken no action to ever legally change my name to Richardsson."

This is wearying for him, but he continues, looking at Storm and Grimm. "Grimm, Storm, for better or for worse, I would not be the whole of who I am today without your influences." He smiles, then looks to his brother's family.

"Cassandra and Scotty, you have made my brother happier than anyone else on this world could, and shared his life with me. Thank you."

Then, he finally advances towards Kristoff, reaching into his jacket for legal envelope.

"Kristoff... you saved me, when no-one in the world could have faulted you for wanting nothing to do with me. More than that, you raised me, and forgave me for perhaps more than I deserved. You have embraced even the irresolveable differences in... important views between us." He hands the envelope to his brother.

"This is what I have to give you."

Inside the envelope are notarized copies of a change of name form.

	Kristoff reads. He'd never expected this. Not after all the years of Vincent's apparent need to distance himself from his human and Latverian heritage. Not after what happened in the spring, especially. He just wraps around his arms around Vincent and doesn't let go. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Andrea was quite surprised by Vincent's actions, but her ability to predict human behavior was sometimes more accurate than others. She had, fortunately, not needed to keep her father from attempting to injure Vincent. His apology was sincere. A slight bow of her head signified her acceptance of it. 	That was... good. Franklin appreciated what Vincent had done in apologizing. That was going to make things a lot easier for all of them, especially when it came to getting beyond this whole past issue with Vincent. (Reply to this)(Parent)
