Bobby held her tightly while she cried. He wanted to wave a wand or build a device that would take all the pain she was carrying inside of her away, but he couldn't. The most he could do was be there when she needed him and it's exactly what he tried to do.
He didn't tell her it would be alright or that it would be okay. False hope didn't really do anyone any good in the end.
"Not that I'm defending him, but remember this one isn't your father yet and isn't that much older than us. Learning that he has a future daughter, or could have, is a big shock and maybe he isn't handling it well. Did you see Svalin? Nothing rattles the one we know and this one was clearly rattled when she learned about Solver. I know you want him to acknowledge you, but give this one a little time for the shock factor to wear off. I'm sure he has a million questions for you." His voice was soft and low when he spoke to her.
"Who knows, maybe by the end of tonight we'll all be sitting around the fire laughing and telling stories after we've had too much of Solver's mead."
He kissed the side of her head. The smell of her shampoo lingered and soft silky strands tickled.
