He was joking...mostly. He wouldn't deny having an ego, but he did care about others. Especially family and those that were really special to him.
"I will always be here for you, Veronika. I will give up my cars before I even think about leaving you."
He kissed her. He was falling madly in love with her and it scared the hell out of him. Well before this point is would he would have left a girl, but Veronika was different. He didn't know why and he didn't want to know. He just wanted her.
