Meeting of the Minds
Griffen had decided he was going to start ordering parts for new computer upgrades. It wasn't his thing but it had to be done. That was when he had noticed someone was already doing his job for him. That was a little surprise.

He smiled a little as he picked up one of the boxes to check out what was being installed. He gave a low whistle of geek approval as he wandered into the computer room. He looked up and had a moment of surprise.

"Miss Stark?" He blinks again then offers her a smile. "It's good to see you again. Is there anything I can do to help you?"

He doesn't seem as shy as he once was but then again the first time they met was in the middle of a crisis and the next time they were around each other was when the Defenders got called in. Griffen notes that they never really got to talk before.

"Awesome," she said as she pushed the board up onto the sand and squeezed the excess water out of her hair. "Did you like surfing?"

"Indeed. Methinks it exercise good enow to add to mine daily routines til I hath a good feel for it, at least." he replies, taking the board, carrying it like it weighed next to nothing, just a little awkward due to its size. "But the fair company wast better still."

Anya blushed. "Yes, the company was nice. Let's go. I want to go learn how to play with swords." She smiled and then broke into a run across the beach toward the stairs that lead up the cliff.

He hefts the board over a shoulder and takes off after her. Its left by the back door, then he heads for their weapons training area - his and Svalin's virtual second home. They've fashioned all manner of melee weapons, at least in practice versions, though the number of broken wooden swords, axes and other such things suggest the Asgardians are none to gentle when practicing with each other.

"Pick a sword that suits thee."

Anya eyed all the swords and picked up a few to test the weight. It took awhile, but she eventually found one that wasn't too big and heavy.

"Okay. I'm ready," she said with a smile.

He nods, selecting a sword for himself that's of similar scale to him as the one she selected, demonstrating a proper grip. "If thy grip ist too tight, the first time thou wouldst try to parry with it, it wilt injure thy hand and thou wilt be disarmed. Too loose, and thou wilt hath no strength in thy swings."

"It feels okay," she said. "What do you think?" She held her hand with the sword in it up to him.

He nods. "Perfect, now, shift thy feet apart, and lean thy weight on the balls of thine feet. Both thy offense and defense ist built 'pon thine ability to move, balance, and make quick adjustments. If thou'rt flat footed, or oe'rextend thyself, thou wilt quickly be all but helpless before an experienced foe."

"That...is the easy part." Anya had taken ballet, gymanastics and martial arts since she could first walk. Balance was the foundation of all of them. "See?" she asked and rose to the ball of one foot. She lifted her other leg and put her foot against her knee. She was steady and did not waver in the least.

"I took ballet, gymanastics and martial arts for many years. Balance is key in all three." She did a pirouette and then smiled at him. "Mom believed in a well rounded education.

He nods, grinning, and setting his feet. "Ver' well, now thy back foot ist thy plant. Push off it to thrust, pivot on it, keep thy center of balance, and thou canst always quickly adjust and move." He deomstrates a couple basic swings and thrusts, as well as how to retreat and pivot. The basics of swordsmanship footwork.

Anya duplicated his movements. The footwork was similar to the footwork in the martial arts classes she took.

She looked forward to the challenge of learning and keeping up to him, but she knew it was going to be physically exhausting.
