Lucas is usually the picture of self assurance. He doesn't seem to have 90 percent of the awkward of the typical teenage male. Learning a degree of mastery over telepathy and magic at the same time, while being fairly physically adept and active for his age has a way of helping. There's one thing that he hasn't got quite the same degree of confidence on though - girls. There just weren't many his age on the reservation, and he's had to spend a lot of time on his studies.

So its with an unusual bit of hesitance that he heads into the girls' wing and lounge during the day, when its proper to do so and all, obviously in search of someone or something.

"Very." She finds the best spot amongst all this to sit. "It all seems delicious, Lucas." She smiles.

He shifts closer to her to sit so he can uncover things within easy reach. The whole being closer thing isn't bad either. "There's sandwiches there, bbq meats and bits for the tortillas, fresh ginger ale... and I managed to find a recipe for your oat cakes. Hopefully I didn't botch them too bad. My first attempt."

Moira doesn't have any problem with closer. She just smells for a moment. The meat and the ginger and Lucas and ... hm.

She starts with the oatcakes right out. "They're good. Och, thanks, I haven't actually had any since last December." Granny and her staff had been a wee bit busy when she and Danielle had first gone there this summer.

Moira digs in quickly. There's not any real lack of table manners: she chews with her mouth closed; she uses a napkin. And yet somehow that doesn't stop a piece of chicken being picked to the bone almost before she's done brushing brushing off the crumbs from her first serving of oatcakes. She's just... a very fast eater. And she's...obviously very happy.

He digs in as well. There's not a lack of table manners, but nor is he overly formal. Lots and lots of meals at home were things meant to be packed and eaten on a camping trip.

"They were no problem. They had all the ingredients here, just took some time. So, I know we've talked some about Asgard, and where you came from before here and all, but its so... different. I'd love to hear more. Or more about you."

Moira smiles. "It is different, yes. We've always been lucky, getting to spend every December with Granny, so Midgard isn't complete culture shock. At home, the forest can be a bit insular. We've got plenty of friends in different parts of Asgard, of course, but we're still an autonomous principality. Lucky there, too. Da's not a major player in the ...well, politics, basically, of the Nine Worlds. But fortunately, people tend to know we're not playing." She sips the ginger ale. It's delicious.

Ginger ale, like root beer, he's made before, and wasn't too worried about. At least she seemed to appreciate the oat cakes.
"That's good. I'm sure its like any other politics - can get complicated. So, if you spend Decembers here, what are holidays like? Had to be quite the shift."

"Aye." More food, before she addresses the question. "Granny and Mummy like some of the usual Christmas trappings with the inside tree and big meals and all," Granny pretty much loved it out of spite since Certain Parties had frowned on Christmas celebrations when Rahne was younger. "And since we started the visits young, it was never really awkward."

She cants her head slightly looking at him. "What's it like in Colorado?"

"Very... traditional. I barely ever met my father. He was around a little now and then, but dad wasn't a role he was ok with, and my parents kind of went their separate ways. Mom liked to tell stories... she adores her friends, and being a Valkyrie, and her winged horse and the rest, but she also loved her space. We're out in the middle of nowhere... the closest thing to civilization is the reservation, with a store that's always out of everything but raw ingredients and honey nut cheerios. No television, but we had a radio. Other than school, growing up was mostly camping, fishing, hiking, hunting and everything else you could do in the mountains until, Michael moved in. Which was kind of more of the same plus learning to be a shaman."

Moira listens attentively. She's aware, of course, that fathers can be distant or absent, as alien as the concept is to her direct experience. She grins at the part about the honey nut cheerios.

"Mummy still thinks the world of your mother." A thought. "How long have you been learning to be a shaman?"

"Almost nine years now, since I started showing some aptitude, after my powers manifested, or started to. I got an earlier start than most mutants, but they're subtle enough, we were kind of figuring them out for a while. And Mom still thinks the world of your mother. And Asgard as well."

"That is an early start, comparatively. Of course, we could do all three forms when we were born, so..." She shrugs a little. "I guess I'm not sure we even count as mutants, although Granny says...well, the genetics issues are way over my head."

She smiles. Lucas's mother still had a lingering reputation in certain Asgardian circles. Danielle's 'odd name' had always been easier to explain than hers.

"Yeah, technically, you wouldn't be, though Danielle might, since her 'power' has manifested differently so far. Interesting though. And I admit, my powers are a lot kinder to me than a lot of people's."

"It started with first remembering every detail of all of my dreams, and then being lucid and in control of them. It got a lot weirder when I started seeing the dreams of other people around me, accidents at first."

"If I had lived in the city with tons of people around or something, that probably would have gone worse. But with only a few dozen people within 50 miles, and the main one being Mom, it wasn't bad. Michael really helped a lot in figuring out all the little quirks, and teaching me how to focus it."

She has some of the tortillas. "Och, these are fantastic."

"Corn flour was cheap and plentiful, so we made tortillas a lot. Glad you like them. And yes, I still talk to them every week, he's still kind of guiding my progress. And he helps mom out. Bet they'd love to see your mom when she's about sometime."

Lucas chuckles, finishing what he's eating, and finding one of the napkins to clean up a bit with. Once he finds he has a free, and clean, hand, he kind of, sort of 'accidentally' sets it down touching one of her hands. "Maybe sometime then. Right now, this is kind of nice."

"Aye." Moira's hand then completely intentionally interdigitates with his. "It is." She grins. "Everything's wonderful, Lucas. Thanks."
