"You have nothing to apologize for, Anya. The man you love came back to you." Austin says.
"If you hadn't gone to jump into his arms, I would have been more worried." he says, once again forcing a smile onto his face. In his heart of hearts, Austin didn't bear Steve Barton any ill will of any kind.
Still, he'd managed to fall for Anya in such a short time that it bit at Austin deeply that they never had a chance to see where it lead. Austin was so upset over everything that he'd broken down on New Year's Eve and called his mother for the first time in years for solace. He'd quickly come to his senses and ended the call, but that hadn't stopped her from calling him every day now.
"We both knew that Steve was comin' back. I...let myself get carried away in my head so it was my fault if I got hurt. Besides, you saved my life and you did more than any friend ever needs to for another friend. I'm just glad that you're happy." he says.
"You are happy, right?" Austin asks.
