Vanishing Act (Open)
It had been a few weeks since her strange encounter and it was still bothering Karen. She really didn't know what to make of it.

So she called a few people who might know to see if they had time to talk.

	"Crap. You caught me, Karen. Shedd Aquarium is on fire because those poor sea creatures turned out to be demons. I had to do what I had to do." Matt says quietly. "Whoa, Karen! Hold on. You can't just make passes at me like that anymore. I'm seeing someone." Matt teases. The only thing that he loved teasing Karen about more than setting something on fire was her making passes at him, because she never had in all the years they'd been friends.

They were great friends and partners, but Karen understood that Matt was damaged goods. Matt, for his part, understood that Karen was as dedicated to her job as he was to his.

"I'm just kidding about Shedd Aquarium. But I /did/ have to burn up another ten or so vampires. A few of them tried to jump Shelly and me a couple of weeks ago, then I caught another pair trying to feed off of some guy near the south side.

Speaking of...can I get you to run an official background check on someone?" he asks.

Karen rolled her eyes, she would swear he would be cracking jokes like this even if they were about to be hanged or something.

"As long as they aren't causing me trouble burn them all if you want," Karen says. These fanged assholes were really starting to get on her nerves. She really should show them why it's a bad idea to do that in her city at some point.

"Sure I can run a background check for you but can I get you to look into something more me in exchange," She asked.

"A couple of weeks ago I was driving down Archer's Ave and nearly hit this girl that appeared in the middle of the road after a blind turn," Karen says, "I offer her a ride home since it was the least I could do and she has be drop her off at Resurrection Cemetery. She got out of the car and I look away from her for only a few moments and she was gone there was no way she could have moved fast enough to get away like that. I'm not really sure what happen there."

"Did this person offer you anything or take anything from you, Karen?" Matt asks, his voice heavy with concern. He knew that stretch of road a bit, but not completely. Most of his research into the Chicago area indicated it wasn't a good place to be.

"Wait? Was this over that rumor I asked you to look into?" he asks, remembering that he was trying to close a missing persons case out that way.

"Good to see you, too. Now stand still." Matt says, raising his left hand and tracing the outline of Karen's body.

It takes the better part of twenty minutes, but finally, Matt is satisfied that she is not cursed, possessed, influenced or marked in any way.

"Okay, the next time you see this ghost or /any/ ghost, drop what you're doing and call me. Please." Matt says.
