Lisa runs a hand down her face and clears her throat. "You probably remember the concerns I voiced about a growing situation in District X. It's gotten a lot worse."
She goes into as much detail as she has available about the suspected disappearances, the increase in drug trafficking, alleged mutant crime, and arrests. She also brings up how she and Pauline interviewed local residents.
"We must have hit a nerve somewhere, because someone either tried to kill me, or at least wanted me to know they could. I got attacked outside my home by.." She pauses. "Someone who could fake being a speedster. MGH-induced powers 'smell' like rancid meat compared to homegrown ones." She explains with finger-quotes. "They slammed me into a wall and pushed me down the block against it. If I hadn't siphoned off some super-strength earlier in the day, most of me would have stayed on the wall." She goes on to specifically quote the attacker's warning.
"So they were either watching me all day and it was a genuine warning, or it was a botched hit and the guy tried to find a spin for it." She looks around the table. "Julian has had me keep the police out of it for now."
