Take Me Out to the Ballgame
Since the trip to Tahiti Anya had been searching for something that Steve and she could do together for their first adventure in doing something together. There were a few charity events she had on her schedule for the Maria Stark Foundation and one for the Russian embassy, but she didn't want the first time out with Steve to be at a formal function. She knew he wouldn't be comfortable in a tux in a room full of rich people.

Then she remembered the Yankees were playing tonight against the Texas Rangers. It would be a perfect first...date? Was it a date? She wasn't sure what to call it. Semantics aside, it would be something the both of them could enjoy doing together and the family always had tickets.

She made some phone calls earlier to make the arrangements. When they weren't using the box, tickets were given out to Stark Inc employees to use. Anya didn't care if others were there, she just wanted to make sure there would be two seats for her and Steve. She also arranged for a car and driver.

There was a smile on her face as she went to look for Steve.

Steve smiled. "Sounds great to me," he said. "I didn't even know you liked baseball."

Anya shrugged. "It grew on me over the years and it was quality time with my dad when I was growing up." Baseball was one of the few sports they could sit down and watch and talk about. It was a game of numbers and strategy. Two things the two Starks loved.

"If we go a little early we can watch batting practice and I can introduce you to some of the team." It wouldn't be too much effort to get down on the field and talk to the team. They could possibly even swing a bat a few times.

One of the things about being a Stark, aside of being a bastard, was that you knew anyone who was anybody. Musicians, actors, politicians, sports stars, and the rich were just some of the types who moved in the same circles as her family did.

Steve knew, even if he was a Red Sox fan (gotta root for the underdog) and thus legally obligated to hate the Yankees, that he could not pass this opportunity to a) hang (go on a date?) with Anya and b) all the other stuff.

"That'd be awesome!" he said.

She smiled brightly. "Good. It's a...plan (date?) then." She kissed his cheek. "I'll let you get back to practice. From that last shot looks like you can use it." A wink.

...There might be something to be said for this actual relationship thing.

He made a face and stuck out his tongue. "And I told you I meant to do that. It hit exactly where I was aiming!"

Oh so that's how it was going to be. Well she could stick out her tongue with the best of them and she wasn't even in a restaurant this time. Having an older brother meant she had much practice. She stuck hers out and then started giggling.

"Uh huh. Still not believing that one. I'll see you at four sharp."

Steve tossed off a salute and a grin. "It's a date."

...Was it?

It was?

"Knock it off," she said. "I'll see you at four."

She gave him another smile before leaving the room. She had to start getting ready. There was only three hours left.
