Checking up on distant family...
Misha's birthday gift from Dad, which included a stash of Mopar parts for Darlene, was a directive to go to Japan and check on Amiko. Phone calls were one thing, but Logan wanted a real idea of what was going on with a Deathstrike around and considered that his presence might create unwanted attention for Amiko. Misha, however, was a likable, friendly representative. Almost harmless in his natural state. And far too noticeable to the social media for almost anybody to have serious plans of kidnapping and torture.

Misha thought the idea would be fun. He liked Amiko a great deal and worried about her too. Sisters were delicate creatures, and if any of them found out he thought that, his life would be hell until they had something new to torment him over.

On his way upstairs to pack and make arrangements for the trip (as well as call his guard so she wouldn't have a tizzy), he found Sylvie making her way through the first floor toward the kitchen.

Idea struck bell tones. "Hey," he said. "I know I owe you a dinner out. How would you like fish and chips with a side of sushi?"

"'Miko would tell me she's fine while she's on fire and nowhere near water. There's been some sightings of a Person of Interest and Dad wants me to see her in person. I'm making arrangements to leave tonight, if you're game."

"Well, gosh, wonder where she gets that from?" Sylvie grinned. "I'll go get my things together."

"And I'll tell Aunt Cee that I promise not to let you eat yourself into a stupor or run away with gigolos." He grinned back. "You, me and my guard. We'll have such fun. I have to remember to get Grogg's autograph."

"Awww," Sylvie whined, grinning.

She'll talk to her parents and be ready at the appointed time.

Misha made arrangements to take an evening flight first class to London and a hotel suite for them for two nights. Dropping in to see old friends was good. Dropping in after midnight and expecting to stay...bad. Besides, he had a name and a bank account, as Anya was fond of reminding him, and it wasn't like he spent money like water.

He packed enough clothes for a week, including his armor and a casual suit for just in case. If he'd learned one thing from Mom it was to make sure he had the right equipment.

They would drive Darlene into the city and take a cab from the penthouse. A car service would meet them in London and take them to the Ritz. Once the flight to Tokyo was set for the second morning, he called Amiko to let her know and ask her to make reservations for them at a suitable hotel.

He thought he covered everything until he really /did/ have to assure Doc McCoy that he would take care of Sylvie as if she were his own sister, nevermind that they'd been raised as family.

"So," Sylvie asked on the plane. "How's Lyta? I'm hoping she calls you more than me."

"She calls when she can. We try to make contact at least every other day. Business keeps her occupied, and the Champions. Soon as her schedule opens up, we're going to take advantage of the trip to Australia Anya gave me for my birthday." He moved the seat into a reclining position. The duffel with the armor was tucked into the overhead and his guard was seated at the very back of first class. Sylvie was excited enough for both of them.

"Not that I don't love all of you, but it isn't the same with Lyta and Joe gone. I always thought we'd all take over the team and keep on fighting the good fight, but it's good we're in more places when we're needed."

"That's terrific." Sylvie smiled wistfully. "Yeah, but everyone needs to get a little wanderlust out of their system. We could end up all in New York together again someday."

"Could be, when we're old and gray?" He smiled at her. "Maybe Mom helped shake the wanderlust out of me. I don't mind visiting places, but I like being at home with my family. Hey, how about that harem Rachel's got herself? I really can't believe she did it. Go Rachel."

"It's about time she did something to make Uncle Scott's head spin," Sylvie declares enthusiastically. "And they've been such gentlemen about it."

"I think I heard him mutter that at least it wasn't me. Whatever /that/ meant."

The flight attendant stopped to offer them beverages. Misha waited for Sylvie to make her request before asking for a beer. He received a quiet 'Your Highness' in response. It startled him for a moment before he remembered that he was traveling as His Imperial Highness. Served him right for making arrangements through the embassy handler, but it had been the quickest, easiest way to do it.

"I think it's the gentlemen part that's confusing Dad. Sure, they don't need to act like animals, but I think he was expecting a little more aggressive behavior from David."

"David's pretty mellow, yeah. It sounds like that's pretty normal for his mom's side of the family."

"Hey, I'm mellow. I'm so mellow until the moment I'm not." He grinned again and patted the hand on the armrest. "I hope you brought something to read or watch because plane rides make me sleepy."

Sylvie giggled. "Indeed. And I've got three Patrick O'Brian novels. I'm good."
