Networking (Carrie)
After a busy few days, Julian has to get back to the business of running his businesses. Ideas to pitch and people to meet, after all. Today's appointment with Carolyn Fisk was a long time in coming. They'd spoken briefly at a few charity events and other happenings in New York, which was where Julian had first become intrigued in the idea of working with her. She came from a wealthy family and he was also scouting out her potential for another venture down the line.

He arrived for their dinner meeting wearing his finest Black Armani suit, his metallic cane in hand and waited at their table in the most private room Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse had to offer. The wine would arrive only minutes after she does, and Julian reads a bit of the stock reports while he waits for Carolyn to make her entrance.

"I was just gauging interest in a possible long-term investment in a billion-dollar business." Julian says.

"It has to do with the sports area project I sent you. A professional baseball team would look good, either in Las Vegas or resurging from it's failing grandeur. There's one in particular that just ended up on the market.

The Los Angeles Dodgers. I'm thinking of investing in it, maybe gathering some others. Could be a gold mine in the making." he says.

"An old New York team with strong civil rights connections through Jackie Robinson," Carolyn says, "I can see plenty of opportunities though establishing a new fan base can be a difficult thing to do."

"If you play that right you could very easily though make it a very strong investment."

"It's true, but that movie from way back had the right idea. 'If you build it, they will come'." Julian says.

"The Dodgers could be a real powerhouse again, but they just need someone who can manage them and work with that history. Los Angeles has the history, but Las Vegas could mean a new start for the team." he says.

"The correct path will present itself soon enough. Right now, I'd like to, as you said, get New York in order. Once that's done, the rest falls into place." he says.

"Yes and they do have a fairly loyal fan-base in Los Angeles," Carolyn says, "But I don't thing they would object to you turning them into a powerhouse again as long as you can prove that you can and that it's not just a stunt."

"But I agree that care of your own home before working elsewhere."

"I'm not one for publicity stunts, Carolyn." he says.

"The first part of cleaning up New York begins with District X. From there, City Hall." he says.

"I was thinking we might also work together on that." Julian suggests.

"My concerns lie in other parts of the city though if you want some help with District X I would gladly extend my support," Carolyn agrees, "I also would like to see some changes around City Hall."

"A join venture could accomplish more that a single group could."

"I agree, Carolyn. I'm going to look for ways to help District X and I've got a few in mind, but I need to meet with some others.

In the meantime, what changes are you hoping to see at City Hall?" Julian asks her.

"City hall has gotten to stagnant for my tastes," Carolyn says.

"This city needs change to become the great and wondrous city that I know this city can be."

"Yes, I noticed. Term limits are a wonderful thing, though most places don't seem to get that. The Mayor's recent...condoning of the District X situation, with the help of the governor, leads me to believe that there are better candidates for both positions.

I happen to know at least one for each." Julian says.

"I can think of more than a few people for those positions and city council," Carolyn says, "Though I must admit I'm of half a mind to run myself so I can make sure thinks go the way they should."

"You're a bit young for the position. That's the first thing your critics will tell you, but I'm sure you've figured that out. Still...it would be nice to have a mayor who is easy on the eyes." Julian grins.

"If you did run or if you backed a particular candidate...what issues would that candidate be most fervent upon?" he asks.

"Well some would say I'm too young to take over as the CEO of a major corporation too," Carolyn says, "But we are posting record profits. So I believe that should prove that I'm fairly competent but the looks don't hurt either."

"Urban renewal, fair treatment of all the city's citizens, and cleaning up the streets of crime," Carolyn says, "And of course working to help the schools and actually doing so and not just saying I will."
