Flashback (Age four)
After the second broken chair of the morning their mother Einmyria had made all four kids go outside despite the rain. Four kids all the same age under the same roof for an extended length of time usually led to some furniture casualties. Svalin and Halbjorn had been rather active and had caused the furniture breakage, but all four were shuffled outside despite many protests of innocence from Asleif and Aridis.

Svalin crossed her arms over her chest and harrumphed. She and Hal were only practicing their dragon slaying. The chairs made excellent dragons until they splintered apart. MomOne was quite vexed and she was certain to tell MomTwo and Father. They were certain to be punished later.

"Mother wouldst not be so vexed if we wert to slay a real dragon," she grumbled.

He knows it too - and maybe, just maybe, the yell, even if she's done this enough times before that he should be expecting it - is giving her an extra second. He's never cared that much about beating his sisters at anything - they're all so good at so many things... they're in trouble less, they're smarter... especially Aslief, they're good with making things, helpful around the house - things he just can't seem to manage... and that's fine. He just loves to compete, even when he loses.

They reached the gate with Hal a few steps ahead of Svalin. She laughed the whole time and didn't pay any mind to the looks the two got as they ran through the streets with cook pots on their heads and knives and clubs in their hands.

"Thou hast won!" she said with a broad smile. Svalin would never begrudge her siblings a victory and would be the one cheering the loudest for them.

"Take off thine helm and fasten thine club to thine waist," she told him. Svalin had planned this out before they left the house. She knew what to do.

She removed her helm and carried the pot by the handle. She fastened the knife at her waist as if it were a hunting knife and not one of her mother's best kitchen knives.

"Follow mine lead," she said and started walking toward the guards.

	She walked up to one of the guards. "Our mother, the Lady Einmyria, doth want us to collect berries from the edge of the woods just beyond the gates. Prithee open the gates and allow us to pass." The guard regarded the two kids for a moment and then ordered the gates to be opened. "Thank thee," Svalin said and started walking. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
