But It's My Day Off!
It pained him to admit it, but Vincent had been somewhat remiss lately. In spite of their decision to date one another exclusively, he'd hardly been able to make any time for Asleif. It wasn't as if she'd been hounding him for it, as she seemed thoroughly absorbed in her world travels, but it bothered him, and rightfully so.

A painstakingly thorough clearing of his schedule for a day had been arranged, along with putting together an itinerary of things to do together. He'd even gone the extra mile and asked MacKenzie the favor of being on standby for any F4 related emergencies in his stead (with a caveat that if magic was involved, he should be contacted immediately).

And so, crafting the most precise veil he knew how to, he will slip up behind the object of his affections as she thinks she is off and alone.

"My lady." Comes a whisper over her shoulder, as he manages to keep the tone soft in spite of his grin.

An energy bolt struck the ground mere inches from their feet.

There, hovering in the sky, a painting tucked under her arm, was the Sorceress. "I don't know how you managed to stumble upon my brilliant scheme," she shouted, "but you'll find the Sinister Sorceress more than prepared to deal with the likes of you, Amorason!"

Paste Pot Fred wasn't a man of many words. He didn't like to talk, banter or do whatever it was that people did in fights. He just liked to get the job done and act.

He set the painting he had been carrying down and aimed his gun. A second later a white stream of his own special adhesive shot toward the two do-gooders.

A mystic shield appeared in the air, stopping the paste several feet from them.

"Sorceress?" Asleif growled, as though she had taken personal affront to the name. "Sinister or otherwise, mortal, you are no sorceress."

Vincent just groans. "It's my day off..." He mutters, as he gets to his feet and jogs outside the radius of the shield and the spray.

"Miss Blake, please, you've been doing this since I was seventeen. Please find another career. Any other career. You have lovely bone structure and complexion. I can easily find you a job as a model that would pay as much as your attempted crimes." He zeroes in on her partner and casts an enchantment to relax his mind, hopefully lessening his will to fight. It will feel rather pleasant, actually.

She snarled. "I am the daughter of the peerless Wingless Wizard. My intelligence knows no bounds... Though I have had setbacks... victory in the end shall be mine."

She fired her blasters again, this time at Vincent.

Paste Pot Fred if anything was determined. He kept firing his special paste. This time he didn't aim for their bodies, but for their feet.

Asleif rolled her eyes, looking down at the gunk on her shoes.

"You know these idiots, Vincent?"

"Recurring foes, or 'running gag' might be a better description." Vincent shakes his head at the gunk. A bit of conjured acid is enough to get rid of it, Asleif and even his constitution being more than sufficient to withstand it. They'll need new shoes, though.

The Wizard himself appears in mid-air with a flash of light and sucking of air as he seems to teleport in. "Yes, my daughter! You have done well! Now, together, we shall crush them!" He opens his arms to embrace her.

Fred used the distraction to spray another blast of adhesive, this time trying to coat both Asleif and Vincent.

Splat!

A large patch of glue fell upon Asleif.

She fixed the man who had shot her with a glare which would have frosted a fire demon.

"You," she said icily, "have made a grievous mistake."

Vincent had no doubt of Asleif's words, but his focus was on the Wizard, as Miss Blake approached him.

A well-constructed illusion is like weaving a tapestry. Dozens of hundreds of threads woven together to make things just so. Pull one hard enough, and it falls apart.

The similarity ends in that no matter how hard you try, you can't unravel a tapestry so that it explodes. Light and a defeaning boom issue forth from where the image of the Wizard floated.

The blast knocked her out of the sky, and when she hit the ground, the impact was enough to cause her rocket boots to misfire, sending her spiraling away into the sky and out of sight.

Realizing a slight miscalculation on his part, Vincent teleports, glue still on him, to catch the now falling painting.

Seeing his side was down one person, Fred did the only thing he could. He ran.

Aslef mouthed the words of a quick spell, hands tracing mystic symbols in the air. The street itself came to life around Fred, flowing up to form a cage.

Vincent simply sighs as he retrieves Fred's painting as well, having dispensed with the remaining glue with some effort.

"We'd better go turn these, and him, over to the authorities..."

Just what he needs. More recognition. On his day off.

Asleif shook her head. "And you fight these people recurrently? That is... a particular kind of stupidity on their part."

"More recurrently than I'd like." Vincent grunts, dialing the police to make arrangements.

The official thanks, both from local authorities and the museum curators and historical societies, occupied another two hours.
