"Okay. Our appointment at Ryker's is tomorrow," Beatrice told their guest. "This afternoon, would you care to watch some Man From U.N.C.L.E DVDs with me?"

"Unfortunately no," Nicolai says, "The sudden change in behavior is very odd especially from what I remember of him. My mother had meant to look into it more since he was a close friend of hers but never had the time to do so properly."

One of the unfortunate costs of running a country and a business with some missions as well in addition to be a mother meant she had very little free time. Which was probably one of the reasons why his mother didn't seem to mind him slowly taking over running things for Silver Sable inc.
