Let's Figure This Out

Matt Walker's office is in the upstairs portion of a two-story building near Chicago's South Side, which isn't in the best repair. Still, he calls this place his home away from home and the place where the work he does to finance his /real/ job is done.

He gets inside and takes off his duster, draping it over the back of the chair before sitting down heavily. Still no word on Austin Caine, still no leads, and Matt was reasonably sure that whatever those cultist had summoned was going to make its move soon. He considered calling Ian for advice, or Doctor Strange, but decided he wouldn't. He had to help put this together and then stop it.

He picked up the phone and called the rest of the team, asking them to come to his office.

	Matt didn't like this conversation or where it was going. He liked even /less/ that this guy had just shown up in his office uninvited. "Who the hell is this guy?" he asks everyone else, since they all seem to know him and he doesn't. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Matt is annoyed.

"I don't know who you are, and I don't care. You don't just walk into my office, make a bunch of cryptic threats against my friends and tell us to stay out of things when people are being killed.

These men are killers, but they'll be judged by a court of law for their actions and dealt with that way, not by some whacked-out demon that thinks it's got orders from God or whoever." Matt says, stepping forward.

"Now get out of my office before I throw you out of that window." Matt says, and then he points to the window across the room.

Humans were a difficult species, and their various offshoots more so. Aeron never ceased to be amazed with the arrogance a few mortals could muster when they had a scant amount of power between them.

"Anselm, the only people being hurt right now are people who deserve it. Criminals, killers and the like. The Spirit of Vengeance does that, but doesn't harm innocents. What the five of you are considering is stopping an instrument of justice, rather than focusing on what's coming.

You know well what happens to those who stand against the mandate of Heaven." Aeron says.

Then he looks to Shelly.

"I think I have as much right to call him that as say, his father. Or his mother.

Heed me, Midnight Sons. The Spirit of Vengeance will finish his work tonight, if you allow it. If you do not, you will bring greater suffering on this city than you can know." Aeron says.

"Choose wisely." Aeron says, before vanishing.

	That asshole had definitely made Karen exclusive people I want to shoot list. He talked about justice but as far as she was concerned now he didn't know what the word meant and had no right to use it. Vengeance had no place in justice. Karen just stood where she was with a mad and frustrated look that Walker knew all to well. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Detective, it's Sergeant Wolfford. We've got a situation at 29th & Longstock." the Sergeant says.

"We got a call from an eyewitness who says that there's a...flaming man outside the Hell's Angels Clubhouse.

None of the bikers have come out yet, but this flaming man is demanding they 'answer for their sins'.

The news is already down there and they say it's the Ghost Rider." he says.

	Anselm had no choice. The situation in Chicago had to be dealt with before he could move on. Death had no fear for him. After centuries' of life, he was /tired/.
