Awkward Introductions
When they got home, Sylvie thanked Misha, but decided right out to introduce Fred to Dad. Dad wasn't exactly hard to find.

"Your courtesy is appreciated," with a quick series of zips and unbuckling, the pants and the padding beneath come off. Underneath Fred was wearing cloth tailored for his legs' physique, particularly his backward knees. "Ah yes, far more comfortable."

Hank's expression is merely one of genuine curiosity. As others get more comfortable he shifts to hang upside down, since most of the areas he works in regularly are set up to accommodate himself and Sylvie.

"Very good. Oh, and the offer of backed goods was quite genuine. I believe most of them are even still warm - and in expectation of your arrival, I managed to prevent myself from consuming the entirety. Please, help yourselves as we settle in here."

Sylvie smiles and gets herself a cookie. "Maybe I should climb over to Aunt Jean's office and see about getting Fred room."

"Thank you..uncle."

He bent down on his knees, a few creaks indicated they were indeed stiff. He took a moment to observe Sylvie in motion.

An interesting path for our bloodline's mutation to take.

Hank nods, giving the two some time to settle in a bit.

"Now then... in all seriousness... what is it you're seeking? Because it is, and always has been the mission of Xavier's to try and be open to those who are in need of aid and understanding. We have had people with difficult familial situations in the past, and, undoubtedly, this situation will continue. I cannot allow any prejudices I have regarding concerns over my counterpart to color that mission, or to seek any exception - and, if indeed, you are my nephew, and genuinely seeking sanctuary, nor would I wish to."

"Well that all depends on what terminology you'd prefer in regards to a clone. If you created a clone of yourself, would you consider said clone a child or a sibling?" Fred asked good naturedly. his lack of concern over the nature of his existence obvious. "But in all seriousness my goal as of late is research into..I suppose you could call it DNA transfusions. Basically taking DNA of a known, healthy mutant bloodline and use it to treat mutants with far less easy to manage mutations." His pulls a disk from his pocket. "My research thus far," he stated before returning to his place. "Frankly neither my father nor Gene Nation are inclined to support my efforts. I need mutant support and backing. I encountered Sylvie at the library, and here I am."

He takes the disc thoughtfully. "And there's the rub. On its own, the sound of your research has merit. I shall certainly endeavor to look into what you have developed so far, regardless. Despite that one factor - coming to Xaviers' because others won't back your research is only feasible if you are also willing to comport yourself in a manner befitting one of our students. Whatever your deeply held beliefs, a certain standard of behavior and recicitude in action is expected here. If you are willing to submit to those standards and follow a reasonable code of ethics, however, if there is nothing morally objectionable within the research, we may be able to achieve an accord."

Friedrich was silent for an uncomfortable period of time.

"Firstly, and I cannot emphasize this enough, I have no desire whatsoever to become one of Xavier's students. I do not believe in your cause, frankly I consider it naive, and I will not perpetuate it. I'm here to do something that will benefit our people. Secondly, and just what is 'unethical'? Because I believe I can safety say that's a debate that leave us both annoyed, angry, and dehydrated."

Hank takes that in, then nods. "Understood... which, makes things more difficult. Nonetheless, if your research might benefit mutantkind without doing harm to others - regardless of the genetic status of those others, I do feel it necessary to assist in the next steps - I will not prevent the greater good on philosophical differences. However, I also cannot allow those who, frankly, oppose the attempt to reconcile human and mutant relations, to go about unsupervised. If you are willing to allow a degree of security procedure, and for me to oversee aspects of the research to make sure what is being pursued is what you presented to me - I will assist you, regardless of our other differences in opinion."

Friedrich actually smiles a bit, fangs visible. "Very pragmatic of you, uncle. Alright, so long as my work is not mired in philosophical debate, then I ill concede to your terms." He pauses a moment. "For the record I don't oppose your efforts per se, I simply believe to be a waste of resources. I will do nothing to hinder your efforts, I simply believe them to be misdirected."

"And you are welcome to your philosophy. So long as neither it, nor your research puts people, human or mutant, at risk, I will not oppose the former, and support the latter, without further pursuing philosophical debate that is not desired."

He shakes hands from his upside down position without hesitation. "Indeed."
