Decisions, Decsions
New York had everything - shopping, entertainment and two of the finest educational institutions in the entire country, NYU and Columbia. Charlotte had settled into the embassy, gotten used to the city but now...now it was time to make a game plan. She couldnt just keep sleeping until noon and playing Lego Harry Potter on the Wii until the creases from the apholstry on the chair made it painful to keep sitting. She was almost 18, her father had provided one of the finest educations on the planet. College was a natural next step...and if they went off the quota system, she was a shoo in since she was fairly sure there were no other kids that would put "Genoshan" down as their nationality.

SO she flipped a coin. NYU today, Columbia on Tuesday - application in by the end of the month and she could start auditing classes in January on temporary admission. It was a good plan...dthough the tour of the dorm was making her double think that...was it supposed to smell this much of urine...? She wrinkled her nose but kept following the dorm moniter that was showing her the building.

Sengai felt like a literal fish out of water. Being around so many people outside was one thing, but so many inside was even more uncomfortable. However, he said nothing of this to Charlotte, staying close by if she needed him. He wrinkles his nose. Was that..human urine?

She gave him a sympathetic look as the tour was finally over and she headed for the exit door without sticking around to socialize with the other potential students, slipping on her sunglasses and finally taking a deep breath..just to cough from the polution, frowning.

"...I don't have to stay in the dorms?"

"I'm certain that won't be a problem. In fact I think Andrew would be more comfortable if you didn't." Not to mention he would too..because protecting her on campus 24/7 would be difficult. Yes, that was it.

He seems to think on that. "Mediocrity is not necessarily a bad thing. I sometimes wish for the simplicity it brings." He stopped, remembering this was not about him. "You don't strike me as someone mediocre, Charlotte. Have you spoken to Andrew about this?"

"I don't want to bug anyone..I show up out of nowhere..He sets me up with a place to live, money, nice clothes...He's done enough for me...and he has *way* bigger problems. This isn't a life or death problem, I should be able to figure it out.."

"That's not necessarily true, Charlotte. My father was a rabid hater of humanity. Even after his initial tryst with my mother he was contemptuous. It took time, but eventually he grew to see her as an equal, even worthy of love, though he'd never admit it out loud." He sighs. "I don't pretend that it's close to your own situation, but I believe it's proof that it's not impossible."

She smiled a little, taking her coffee and handing him his chai tea. "I just....want to contribute. But I don't even know what I want to study yet...I liked science and chemistry but I dont know if I liked it enough to do it the rest of my life...I was thinking politics, that would be natural...but I dont want to spend my life around people who you can never trust."

"Who says that this has to be the year you decide? It seems too young to make such a life-altering decision before seeing what things are like first. I mean I imagine you'd want to see what life is like in the sciences or politics before committing to such a path." His tone turns a little playful. "In my opinion politics may not be for you. "Question: How would being a teacher be a waste? You'd essentially be educating the next generation of Genoshans. I'd assume that'd be a strong use of prop..ways to tell the young ones of his message." He hoped he hadn't said too much of "propaganda". He'd seen film clicks from Genosha portraying the man as some kind of saint or even a god. Sengai personally found them distasteful and unworthy of a man like Magneto, but he didn't want to offend Charlotte.
