Dr. Demasi started examining her newest patient. She glanced over at Vernique for a second.

"She's stable," she assured Vernique. "I'm keeping her sedated for awhile. The wound will heal and once it's fully healed we can fit her for a prosthetic." Dr. Demasi wasn't a stranger to concerned spouses.
