Bad Medicine
It wasn't fair! He had spent so much time and money making himself invulnerable, to prepare himself to survive the inevitable nuclear holocaust. He had built an empire, amassing great wealth wealth and power. He had been opposed by the so-called superheroes and the idiots that represented the law. He had attempted vengeance but in the end such efforts had been unproductive. In the end, he had decided to take what was left of his empire, and retire to live out the rest of his life in peace, away from self-righteous fools that dogged him. He had purchased ownership of an unmarked island, and had lived there in decadent luxury. But now...

Now he was dying from a disease adapted to his body. None of his doctors could cure it. His invulnerable body worked against him as his unique immune system prevented any treatments from heading the illness off. He tried to contract underworld doctors into aiding him, but none could do it. Damon Dran was still a wanted man, but..he would need help from the so-called "legitimate" medical community. There was a doctor, Ian Lennox, who had invented a new kind of vaccine. Dran needed him. He gave the order for his people to kidnap the doctor.

He knew this would attract the hated "heroes" so he put in a call to Calvin Hammer, the Mastermind of the Secret Empire. He would need help, the cost seemed negligible at this point.

In theory, Buck should be well out of his weight class here. His opponent is invulnerable, and already prepared for the gas bombs - even if Buck hadn't gone through most of his supply getting here. Likewise, any sound of warning, and he may quickly be outnumbered. He has to make this quick, and silent - against an invulnerable opponent.

When the gas had gone off though - the man had covered his mouth. He still breathes. And while he may be invulnerable, and likely in excellent shape, leverage should still work, since the dossiers didn't mention any truly inhuman strength.

Buck maneuvers in the darkness, trying to get behind Dran just before he clears the smoke, trying to put a sleeper hold on him as quickly and cleanly as possible - trying to choke him out might not work, he figures, but the carotid artery should still compress - he hopes, to briefly choke off the supply of blood to the brain.

Dran yells in surprise as he's seized. The hold causes no physical pain, but Dran can feel his vision blurring as the hold sets in. Dran wasn't super-strong, but he was near the peak of human strength. He went to drive an elbow repeatedly into his opponent's stomach.

That hurts. That hurts a lot. Buck can feel the wind being driven from him, but he hangs on tenaciously, tightening his abs and fighting through the shortness of breath, knowing that if he loses his grip and lets Dran call for help - let alone turning this into a fist fight, he's lost.

It was strange to not feel the pain of not being able to breath while the action itself was happening. No matter how many times he hit his attacker, he wouldn't let go. Dran fell to his knees, consciousness nearly gone. He'd been so close. He had the cure..so close.

Damn heroes. He flops to the ground in unconsciousness.

Buck gives it just a few extra seconds, not wanting to do permanent brain damage, but not wanting to leave any risk of the guy faking or waking up too soon. He struggles for breath as he forces himself to drag Dran out of sight from the room while the smoke bombs clear. He's in no shape to fight even thugs right now, but he got what he came for.
