Flashback - Siege!
*BAM*

*BAM*

*BAM*

The pounding on the door was strong enough to make it sound like the door was being pounded in. Svalin ran to the door but she didn't open it. She knew it was her brother. "Thou'rt not going to take this hall!" she yelled out to her brother.

It was actually their house, but to Svalin at the moment it was a great hall to be defended at all costs. The princess of the realm, really a hunting dog, had to be protected and the hall had to be defended against the Dark Elves and Frost Giants. Said "princess" was sound asleep on a rug in front of the large hearth and enjoying the warmth of the fire.

Svalin was holding her wooden sword Father had made for her and upon her head she wore a great helm (one of their mother's cookpots they bent out of shape for dragon hunting). She wore her normal clothes, but did have a small dagger tucked in her belt.

She climbed up on a chair and then up on the table and moved to a nearby window. She pushed the window up and looked down at her brother.

Sif let her wife deal with their son and she looked at their oldest child. "What happened here?" she asked. She did grab a towel and start to wipe away the blood on Svalin's face.

"We wert playing siege," Svalin explained. "I wast inside protecting the princess and Hal wast a Frost Giant trying to destroy Asgard."

She stood still while her mother wiped the blood off of her face.

"He didst get inside," Svalin said regretfully. "I didst try to keep him out."

Einmyria does manage to hold fast to Halbjorn.

"Aye, clearly," she responds to Svalin's words with sadness in her eyes.

"Halbjorn," she says firmly, doing her best to get him to focus. "We shalt all have to talk a great deal when thy father returns."

As he calms down, he gets a lot easier to hold on to, taking deep breaths still, eyes getting a little more focused, looking at the house as if seeing it in its current state for the first time.

"Aye... mother."

"I tried mine best to keep him out of the great hall and from destroying Asgard," Svalin said clearly not understanding Einmyria's concerns. "Next time I won't fail and Asgard wilt be safe."

"We art sorry for the damage. We didst not realize that we hadst caused so much." There was a mention of Father and that meant consequences for what happened.

Svalin looked from one mother to the other. She took responsibility for what happened. It was better to accept consequences than try to pass blame or deny it was her fault.

Sif finished wiping off the blood and put the towel down. She looked at Svalin's nose.

"Hold still," she said and set Svalin's nose. To her credit her daughter didn't flinch.

"Worry not," Sif told both children. "It ist only some damage. It can be replaced or repaired. We art glad the two of you art not seriously injured."

Sif smiled. "Next time the Frost Giant won't get inside to destroy Asgard."

Einmyria cleans up a few of Halbjorn's injuries as well. She makes a few affirming sounds at Sif's statement.

Halbjorn yawns, surprising himself a little, not showing any sign of minding the injuries, but suddenly very tired. "She fought bravely." he murmurs.

Svalin was relieved that both mothers weren't too upset about the broken things in the house and the broken house. Now that she could look at things, she saw that the damage was quite serious.

"As did thee," Svalin said. "Hal made a most wonderful Frost Giant. He wouldst have won," she told her mothers. "He wilt be a great warrior of Asgard one day. Like Father."

"Nay, tis not true. She wouldst hath won, and defended the realm." he insists.

"We doth believe ye both," Einmyria assures softly. In intent, anyway. In the feelings-do-them-credit way. They would have to accept that Halbjorn was not, in fact, going to be quite the same kind of warrior as his father. The three parents had fought the idea as long as they could, and she accepted that now.

"Now let us get ye both to bed."

Sif gave her daughter a hug and then gave her son one. "Listen to thine mother," she told them. "Clean up and rest to heal thine injuries. There art more battles to be fought at a later time."

"Aye, mother," Svalin said and gave each mother a hug. She then took one of Hal's hands. "Come Halbjorn." She gave his hand a tug.

He nods, yawning and stretching again, before giving each mother a hug. "Aye, mothers." he adds, before taking Svalin's hand and moving to keep up with her. "Thou wouldst hath won though." he insists firmly, as they head into the ruined house.

Hey, at least the couch survived this time.

Einmyria watched them go, then looked at the house, then looked at Sif.

"We hath no other options, do we?"

Sif shook her head. "Nay. There art no other options. He must go with the bear-sarks."
