(Marlow, Vernique and Asleif)
Alfveror made his way from the council room through the great hall and out into the city proper. Despite all of the destruction and the threats that still loomed, he walked like a man with confidence through the rubble. The frost giants, trolls and other beings that had caused the damage had retreated for now, but Alfveror knew they would be back. It was guaranteed that they would be back.

He smiled as he slipped through a hole in the wall that surrounded the city. His contact should be arriving soon.

"On the point zero-zero-zero one percent chance that you're telling the truth. Thanks. So where does one go looking for Malekith, and what sort of things has he got in the way?"

"I art loyal to Asgard!" he said. "I doth not know where Malekith ist. I swear on mine life."

"Marlow, get us back to the city, would you? We can waste two minutes dropping him off and getting some help."

"Okay, but I want it on record now that I disagree with letting him go. I want to pop his head off." In response, the bands around his neck and shoulders squeezed. "I guess I can always do it later if it turns out he's lying." She peered at the Asgardian. "Not like he can hide from me for very long."

She cast the spell to take them to the last place they'd seen the others.

"You are probably totally right," Vernique agrees. But there were things one did and things one didn't, and she still remembered that vaguely somewhere in the parts of her brain not occupied with this issue.

And she'll storm over until she finds people. "FAERIES HAVE KIDNAPPED MY SON."

Svalin was currently leaning over maps of Asgard on a large table in the great hall when her wife burst onto the scene.

"Please explain," she said looking up from the maps. It felt like a ton of bricks had been added to the weight already on her shoulders.

"Malekith or however you pronounce it has Solver. Sonofabitchveror here was talking to Aslief about it all plotty-like, and she was real non-commital about Solver's safety, so thisguy needs to be held for a fair trial later, and Aslief and I are gonna have Words next chance I get, but for right now I'm all about finding Malekith and getting Solver back and is that on the priority list or not, hon?" Vernique's voice gets increrasingly thick and teary within the anger.

A million and one thoughts raced through Svalin's head at first and then none. Her look on her face was of pure disbelief after her wife just said her very own sister, a princess of Asgard, was a traitor. No. Asleif had her issues, but Svalin couldn't believe she was a traitor to her people and her family. The crux of it all was that Vernique would not lie about such a thing.

"Take him to the cells," she said to two Crimson Hawk warriors. They grabbed Alfveror and hauled him away.

That weight on her shoulders got heavier.

She looked at her wife for a moment. The next few words were perhaps the most difficult of her life.

"Aye, getting Solver back ist a priority." A long heavy pause. "But I cannot do it." Had Sif, Thor, Odin or even Aridis been here Svalin would have been racing out to save him the second the words passed Vernique's lips, but they weren't here and she had a duty.

Her stomach twisted up in a knot and she felt like she was going to be sick.

"I canst give thee and Marlow warriors for thine quest, but I must remain."

Svalin looked away from her wife.

At any other time, Vernique would spot the signs of what she was feeling and ache for her. But right now, all she could see was being blown off -- their son being blown off -- because Svalin couldn't trust anyone else with the deskwork.

"...'kay," she says hoarsely. "I won't waste time discussing. Norns for-freaking-fend I disrupt The Choreography. Just give us some groundpounders and we'll be on our way."

Sensitive Asgardian hearing picked up Vernique's words and Svalin's stomach twisted up tighter. By the All-Father's beard she wanted nothing more than to go after her son and kill the son of a troll who took him. Her hands curled into fists and anger swelled inside of her. She wanted to scream or hit something, but she was the Queen of Asgard. She could do neither. She held the rage in her heart and made her face as calm as the surface of a quiet pond.

She motioned to the Crimson Hawks, Asgard's elite, and nodded. They couldn't spare to lose anyone in the defense of the realm, but if Svalin couldn't go, then some warriors would.

"Return mine son to me or die trying," she said to the warriors.

Marlow blinked from one to the other, missing any subtle undercurrents. All she knew was that Solver was still missing and there were too many things that had to be done /NOW/. She needed to remind her team that she was a dangerous player in her own right.

"I'll send anybody in my way to somewhere else." The 'somewhere else' was clearly a place they wouldn't survive. "Whoever took Solver will be very sorry. If your guys won't listen, I don't want them."

"I know you're good at that, Marlow, but backup never hurt. When looking, as many eyes and ears as possible are good. Take us back where we left off, and let's get back to it."

"All right," Marlow said. "Back up can hurt if you can't trust them. After what we just heard, there isn't trust. There are consequences."

She didn't bother with the swirl of visible effects. They were just gone, back to where they'd heard the damning conversation.
