Threat Assessment
"Thank you both for agreeing to conference this discussion. I know we all have concerns about the young man. I think he's fairly significantly tied into the attacks by the... beings that were wearing the generic suits the Thunderbolts recovered." Dr Henry Pym, Scientist Supreme (it's on his business cards and everything), addresses the others present.

"Before I share my findings, and present my working theory at this point, I'd like to hear both of your thoughts on Jack."

"No idea. Woke up in a lab somewhere in the greater metropolitan area, all we know about it is that they apparently manage to work with both conditioning and yeast cultures, from Jack's description."

"He's... something new. His genetic sequence may have been derived from a mutant at some point, but it's been so heavily modified since then I'm not sure what to label him as."

Hank nods to Bea's contributions. "That makes sense.

I suppose I should open with this. Have either of you ever found any evidence that Jack uses the bathroom, or seen him sleep? I'm willing to bet not. His body takes the energy conservation principles of the suits and takes it to the extreme. Every last molecule of the food he intakes is broken down and used to replace wear and tear of his body. He doesn't need to sleep either. I'm guessing emulating it is part of his conditioning."

"Even my realizations are kind enough not to inform my conscious mind of people's bathroom habits. And that's... interesting. So Jack's probably a genegineered life form? Figures. People are jerks."

"Yes," Anya agreed. "Some are bigger jerks than others."

"Your reports said that the suited beings were putting people in danger as much as they were rescuing them, yes? I'm fairly certain both their composition and behaviors were beta tests for the finished prod-- for Jack."

Hank holds up a diagram, showing an estimate of Jack's body, and more detailed information about the suits and their former contents. "The same, yeast-based, genetic base was used to fill up the suits and animate them. As you saw, they were still vulnerable to being ruptured and destabilizing the contents.

Jack, on the other hand, is... a much more distilled composition of the same substance. He more than just fills the suit, it and he are one and the same."

He grimaces.

"That's not the disturbing part, though."

"Think of the electrical impulses in the human brain as programming code. In Jack's case, someone not only inserted code, but wrote a language from scratch. His brainwaves run through every cell of his body. One piece of him is the same as any other, just expressed in different ways to simulate skin, hair, and clothing.

The programming code that makes him... 'him', has completely organized packets of data. Languages, media trends, a... somewhat narrow code of ethics, basic societal concepts and the like are all in accessible memories and skills. Underneath that, and this is where it begins to get more disturbing... as best I can tell, his appearance and simulation of biological functions are also part of the programming.

Everything about this boy was constructed by someone else's design."

"Yeah, this is going to get bad. That kind of investment, they're going to come after the 'merchandise,' and I'm going to have to shoot them in the face. Possibly figuratively."

Hank nods to Beatrice. "Agreed. At least this explains the gaps in his memory. It's not that he can't remember past a point, it's that he doesn't have anything to remember. I think we can chalk up the initial memory disruptions to 'birthing trauma', such as it applies.

I also discovered that his power-set is another intentional trait. He's a shapeshifter by nature, but a significant portion of his programming is tied up on 'locking' him into that form and mimicking those rather familiar powers. I can't be sure without having Leonard discuss it with him, but I think he might be able to access his inherent shapeshifting with practice, and possibly even mimic other physical power-sets.

Now, there is some potentially good news. There are gaps in his programming. Anya, I'd like you to take a look at the 'coding' to give me a fresh set of eyes, but I'm fairly certain Jack was meant to be..." He cringes. "--controlled. Moreso than even other cases of conditioning. There are blanks where there should be reflex triggers that would shut down his entire nervous system, as well as other overall behavioral directives."

"Agreed. If you want to go looking for any further information, start your search with the Leap Foundation. They were the furthest Tony's forensic accountants could track the patents for the preservation suits to, and they've got a history of pushing legal boundaries in areas like this without crossing them.

Girls, I'm not a fan of keeping secrets from teammates, but these are extenuating circumstances. Give your team, besides Jack, a rough shape of the worst case scenario, and handle him carefully. Shapeshifting to the extent his donor parent was likely capable is rare. I don't like the possibilities if he suffers a breakdown."

A beat.

"Actually, no offense to her, Beatrice, but I think you can keep your sister out of the loop as well."
