You will not speak slander (Open)
Newspapers flew about the living room then burst into angry blue flames, any loose objects in the room seemed to rattle, and Martin was looking at the TV like it was going to be his next victim. Too bad it was a wall mounted one.

He hadn't seen Dr. Strange in a while. That wasn't too odd in itself, after all he did often have things to do that took time, but it'd been longer than usual and even Wong hadn't heard anything. Up until this point, Martin had only been worried because it'd been so long and Dr. Strange had promised to teach him certain spells as a birthday present. But his birthday had come and gone and no Dr. Strange was around. So Martin had been spending his time at the HQ feeling a little dejected.

Of course, that was until he saw the news.

Liars! They were nothing but LIARS!!

Dr. Strange was The Greatest! He was Sorcerer Supreme! Did people not know what that meant?! He'd never ever do the stuff they were claiming. Never! How dare these people talk nonsense and slander about his mentor?  How DARE they?!

Martin stomps off to the training room to unleash a little.

"Oh. I thought someone told you," he blinks. Though it shouldn't surprise him that much really, perhaps they thought someone else would bring her up to date on his condition. "I um...can't touch things. I mean, I physically can but my hands leak magic and if I get excited or emotional then lots more leaks out and I get sparks like that which can...do unpredictable things. That's how I turned the floor to goo when I met you, I didn't actually intend to," Martin explains. "So that's why I always wear gloves."

"I was wondering about that," she admitted. "I am... sorry to hear that, Martin."

"It's...well there's nothing that can be done about it," he said, trying to shrug it off. "It'd be much worse if I didn't have the gloves." Not that he could take them off anyway even if he wanted to.

"Nothing that can be done about it now," she amended. "Who knows what the future will hold?"

"Well if I went to the future I'd know. But Dr. Strange has lectures about being careful with timelines and besides, it's best not to do that stuff unless you're real good at it so you can come back," he says with the perspective of a prospective time mage.

"But it's...ah...genetic. So it can't be fixed really or made too much better. I mean, hopefully Dr. Strange can make me better gloves but I'll still always need gloves." There were things he was just not an optimist about.

"You do not think you can learn to control it better?"

"I can, and I'm working on that. But I mean...it's difficult and even if I perfect my control I'll still always need the gloves because the magic isn't manageable without them. There's still always going to be the danger of accidents," he shrugs and fiddles with his gloves a bit. It was just something he'd come to accept, best to do it early. Physical contact with things would always be kept to a minimum, that's just how it was and it was easier to live his life if he just accepted that straight out right away. Better to accept you wouldn't be able to do things early than suffer delusions about it.

"I mean, I just tell you in case it comes up. And so you don't think I'm being rude if I don't shake your hand or something. I promise I'm doing my best and I won't turn you into a potted plant or something by accident."

"That's alright," he says and looks to change the subject. "Oh, if you'd prefer, I won't tell the others about the accent if you don't want me to."

She giggled a little at that. "I am guessing they already know."

She considered. "Well, some of them, anyway. But I would appreciate it if we kept it secret."

"I bet Bea already knows and wonders why you keep it up. The rest probably suspect but you're pretty consistent with it so they can't be sure."

"Okay. It's a secret, I promise. I'm good at secrets."

She grinned. "I am certain Bea knows, possibly Kelly as well. But both of them understand the purpose of theatrics."

"Thank you, Martin."

"No problem," he grinned and tipped his hat to her.
