A Not So Quiet Day
It was a rare occasion when most of the Defenders were out of the compound and elsewhere. Today that happened as most were out shopping or doing other errands. Christmas and Yule were coming and some still had gifts left to purchase/make. Svalin had been done for days since she knew she wouldn't be here. She was taking advantage of the quiet to get some chores done. There were stalls to clean out, horses to groom, saddles to oil, weapons to sharpen and other chores.

Right now she was grooming Snowflake outside while he grazed.

Kael stopped short of choking the assassin to death, dropping him to the floor. He turned his attention to Svalin's interrogation.

"Go to Hel, Aesir bitch," the dark elf gritted out. "Have no pride, mongrel? You hide amongst our ancient enemies? You count as an ally he granddaughter of the one who invaded our home? Destroyed our pride as a people? You deserve everything coming to you."

Kael was about ready to shut this man up.

"Dak elve aren't supposed to fear it either. Fighting in the dark is something we're taught from the moment we can hold a blade." He takes a bigger gulp from the gulp. "Then one day when I am twelve years old, I wake up just in time to see an outline in the dark. The blade's quick, I barely feel anything..of course that was before I felt the blood pouring out," Kael said, his mind clearly back at that day, a hand once more reaching for his neck.
