Nick goes flying, hitting the ground hard and rolling. At first, it looks like he's been hit by flaming debris... and perhaps he has. But rather than dying down, the flames seem to be rising - and his skin shrinking away from the bone as the fire spreads.
When he pushes himself to his feet, he's undergone a distinct change.
