The piercing wail got Daniel's attention and broke his charge before he quite reached them. His momentum carries him into the stage, smashing into the front of it with more splintering wood - possibly a distraction, but not quite what he'd intended.
He's still operating at quite a bit less than optimum capacity, but he's still a pretty decent little wrecking ball.
