She knew the thought of leaving would never be far behind. As it is, leaving Gretchen without getting to say goodbye even still tears at her, over a year later. And this time she had enough time to fall for someone, hard, even if she's had the grace and will not to bring it up again - and she's still her best friend. And even now, she wants to tell her about her dream, and the riddle, and the rest, but she doesn't. Because what she really wants doesn't matter. There's work to do.
