Capturing the Pawns
Their first few targets had been acquired, but there were still a few more pawns that they needed to capture. Teams were sent out to capture the remaining pawns.

Capturing Jack Murdock could be easy or hard, depending on your feelings about heights. If you liked them, you'd love the view he was currently enjoyed.

Dressed in his black costume, he was braced into a rooftop corner twenty stories above a city street watching the traffic move below. From up here, if he half closed his eyes, it had a lot in common with the biology films back in high school. He could see the resemblance to blood flowing through arteries and veins. It was a real shame Dad had never been able to enjoy the views when he was Daredevil.

He finally rose from his crouch to climb back onto the roof. He had a dinner date with his Eternal in a few hours and fully expected the view across the table to be even more gorgeous than the city falling into twilight.

	It seemed Hand ninja had no issue with heights, because when Jack climbed back to the roof, he'd find a mass of ninjas silently waiting for him. There wasn't much pause before they lept forward, weapons out, to attack him. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Jack didn't hesitate. He dived in the direction he just climbed up, the roof with the obliging ledge that would hold his weight when he grabbed for the edge. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Right behind him, the sky filled with leaping ninja as they descended upon the fleeing figure. Some rolled onto the roof who's edge he was grabbing, and some fell further to cover lower rooftops and floors. Surround the target first. A few ninja on the roof he grabbed onto, approached the edge, foot hovering over his fingers and about to step to get him to fall into their waiting comrades below.

	The Hand was pulled off the ledge and left to fall down below, but the other ones behind leaped forward, as they tried to hack off the hands holding Jack to the building. They'd learned from the first one's mistake, weapons first not feet first. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Jack let go, trusting he'd find another ledge or seam in the building to catch himself and hopefully find himself below the attackers and closer to the ground for a controlled drop. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Of course the Hand had sent some of their number down below in case of this, and even on lower rooftops. Cover all ground, and make use of superior numbers. But not like they planned on letting him grab a ledge. Ones from various levels leaped out, aiming to attack him as he was falling and unable to really escape. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Practice was almost over, and Misha was really proud of his little softball team. It would soon be too cold for the kids to practice outside and he'd see about renting the Salem Center high school gym for the team to run drills and practice catching. Even play a little basketball to mix things up a little. The key would be to keep them interested and active so when spring rolled around they'd be ready to hit the diamond again.

He blew his whistle and motioned for everyone to take a lap around the field while he gathered up the balls and bats.

	The target sent away the little children and she smiled, putting the plan together to draw this Misha out. Watching the last few stragglers round the last corner of their run, she slipped out and grabbed the slowest. Looking down at the panting and terrified child, she pressed a knife against his neck. 	The scream not only drew Misha's attention, but the attention of the few parents waiting for their kids, and his Holy Band security. 	And now she had his attention, very good. She gave a nasty smile and backed away from the diamond with the kid in tow, luring Misha away. With a yank, she hefted the kid over her shoulder and made a dash for the shadows of the nearby buildings to bottleneck the attack dogs and parents. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Misha ran while Tarasova tried to find a target between the woman and the bouncing, crying boy over her shoulder. When she couldn't, she ran after Misha. Behind them, kids and parents milled around in a crowd on the field. Some realized there was a problem and called 911. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	She reached the shadows with her bait and prey in tow and the confidence of home turf ran over Nisha. A flash of knife and she hissed into the boy's ear, shutting his cries down to trembling sniffles while she positioned the two into a better spot to greet the hero. She didn't even wait for her sister to take a step in that direction before Lexie was tugging on Rachel's hand towards the busy store front - normally a bad mood but if someone was waiting for them, it probably wouldn't be on a busy street.
