Douglas Hrimharisson was visiting his cousins in the city. Skari had sailed him over several days previous.  In that time, they'd somehow managed to exhaust several of their recreational and conversational standards.

And now Douglas stretched in a manner that looked a little odd on his fully-humanoid shape and asked, "So, fair Hjordis, what dost thou want to do?"

"There ist always sword practice," Hjordis answered. "Thou certainly couldst use more."

Douglas frowns slightly. "I grant thee that certain niceties of the art may come more quickly to ye who have hands all the time."

"Thou couldst spend more time with hands and practicing. I canst disarm thee in a matter of minutes. Thou and Skari art lacking in sword skills."

Hjordis looked around. "Speakest of Skari, hath thou seen him? He said he wouldst meet us."

"I shall give thee a chance to do so soon, then. In the Forest we get far more exercise without weapons. I ken not Skari's own explanation."

"Nay, but his mothers may have asked him to tarry." Douglas shrugs slightly. "The house is not far, though it is downwind, thus it is harder to tell if he is coming."

"His excuse ist that he ist oft lazy," Hjordis grumbled. "Aye. Or else he got caught stealing a pie or two again. Einmyria oft doth catch him trying to steal a treat or two."

"Aye." Douglas grins. And then, oh-hoh, a chance to be informative. "In Midgard, baking is done with electricity."

"'Tis most strange," she said. Hjordis had heard many tales of Migard, mostly from her father, Fandral and Hogun, but had yet to go there herself. "Mayhap Skair ist trying to convince his mothers to let him join his siblings and that ist the reason he tarries."

"It would be quite a victory to convince them. We couldst take him with us, when next we go, and he could go then from Scotland to California."

Hjordis shook her head. "He ist not ready for a trip to Migard. He wilt not be until he practices more with sword and bow and ready to prove himself."

Douglas just frowned. As much as he enjoyed bringing the occasional Midgard trivia to those without such information, he'd love to share the experience.

"Mayhap in about ten years he wilt be ready," Hjordis said. "I wonder how his four siblings fare. Hath thou heard from thine siblings?"

"Only that they are safe. There hath been no chance for details, but there will be soon enow. Mummy shalt not afford them secrets."

"She ist a most wise woman," Hjordis said with a smile. "I wouldst not cross her. E'er."

Douglas smirks, somewhere between sheepish -- he was probably the most frequently scolded of either litter -- and proud. He'd never had a need for a chip on his shoulder about his heritage; anyone he cared to speak to in the city knew, just as the pack did, that there was nothing mere about that mortal.

"What sayest thou we go look for our missing companion?" Hjordis was tired of waiting for the wayward Skari.

Hjordis chuckled and jumped to her feet. "Come my stalwart companion. Skari shall not be able to hide from us."

Douglas, after ascertaining that his clothing was loose enough, shifted as he rose.
