The Brink
Vincent woke up, and instinctively smiled, already knowing what day it was without having to think twice. It was his birthday. More than that, it was his eighteenth birthday. Perhaps not so great a deal in the Asgard of his birth or the Latveria of his father, but here, in the country he had made his home, it meant a great deal. He had high hopes for the day.

There had been that miserable little worm of a thought that Kristoff was no longer legally expected to look after him, but that was routinely quashed each time it came up.

Vincent hugged his brother graciously, affording him a kiss on each cheek which was especially reserved for special occasions (and yet here there was cause for it twice in one month), still in his pajamas as he sat down to breakfast, where he would normally be fully dressed for the day already. Resisting the urge to devour the book already, he delicately put it aside, not wanting to risk any food marring it.

He smiled and nodded as he found the 'bookmark'. "Thank you very much, phral. I'm sure Andrea will appreciate this as well." He smirks at the comment about the car. "Yes... indeed it would."

He sets into his breakfast contentedly, tradition dictating that he portioned off a bit of one or two of the dishes for his brother. Eventually, he spoke up again. "You know, there was no real reason for you to take that hellish little child in..." And then, what would normally go purposefully unsaid. "..thank you, Kristoff. I hate to think of what I would have become without you."

"You're very welcome, Vincent," Kristoff says quietly.
