New York is Too Cold
Giovanna's temper was still reeling from the recent footage on television. But on an American holiday, they weren't going to get much chance of talking to any of their official contacts about it, and they didn't have too many other options at the moment, so she tried to stay calm.

Early in the morning, she knocked on the door between her room and Andrew's. Already ready herself for what she had planned, she was wearing a bathing suit.

Distracted from his reading by the knock, Andrew wanders to the doorway.
Maybe his reaction is partly due to being up most of the night, despite her warnings - but there's so much news to catch up on and read here, maybe its that he just hasn't seen her in a bathing suit very often in Genosha.

"Oh, hey Gio, what's.... whoa."

His eyes start at her eye level, at least, before traveling downward, no matter how much he's genuinely trying to be polite.

	And they'll head down to the area in question. Giovanna was normally more the outdoor workout type, but New York was cold. "Anything more in the paper about those -- " there followed a string of muttered French and Italian words that would generally bother her parents to hear her using, but not in relation to something like this. There'd be pretty much enough room to fence here if, you know, you fenced. Not that I'm suggesting you take up fencing; Can't have people honing in on my turf." She smiled. "I'm pretty sure you'd be way ahead of me for a long time to come even if I took up fencing. Same with sparring, but you're right, anything I can learn would be helpful. I definitely need to get more used to moving in this form. When we go into potentially dangerous surroundings, eventually, it might be good to shift beforehand and go like this. A lot easier to protect me, certainly."

	That, at least, is easy enough. Or it should be. Maybe he's looking at Gio in swimwear again? "Oh..." he tries to snatch the weight out of the air, manages to deflect it upward, off his forehead, and then catches it with a little fumbling before it hits the ground. She can't help wincing a little when it hits him in the face.

"At least you didn't let it completely blindside you. It's something. I think your distance-judgment's pretty off with the change in perspective."

"If you don't mind a complete non sequiter," she says as she steps over and takes the weight from him. "I can't believe we still can't find a version of The Count of Monte Cristo that gets the ending right. Seriously, it's a good ending."
In another non sequiter, she then sweeps at his ankle with her leg in what visually must appear as ridiculous as a little girl kicking an adult's shins, but should provide some good practice at reaction and balance, she figures.

On the up side, she catches him totally off guard while he's responding.
"I'll keep looking, I'm sure we'll..."

Downside, its like kicking a brick wall. His reaction time sucks, but he doesn't even budge, which may be a good sign for his durability, but usually a bad sign for the person kicking him when he doesn't even realize he should try and roll with the kick.

"Admittedly not my smartest call there; it's what I get for overestimating myself. But if I were Miss Cargill or, you know, the Juggernaut? You would have tripped there and needed to deal with that." "Yeah." Pause again. "And thanks for still trying about the movie. I'd really like to find one. 'Cause sure, his going off with Haydee maybe isn't a 'classic Hollywood ending' or whatever," Giovanna mutters, trying to continue the conversation without looking at him directly. "But she's loyal, and she obviously wants what's best for him, and...that's gotta count for something, right?"

Enthusiastic kissing part two, before she finally climbs out of his arms.

"I didn't want to Ruin Everything." Here come the audible capitals again. "I still don't, of course. What we're doing is so important, but..." She blushed. She had to acknowledge he was right on a lot of what was mentioned; though of course it had nothing to do with her interest, Andrew was probably one of the very few boys Father would consider good enough for her. And. "...How upset would Your Mom be?"

"Upset at you? Not at all. She's a little suspicious of your dad and all, but she's always liked you. I think she'd just prefer I stay single until age 40 or so, then maybe I can consider dating. And... you're not ruining anything. Not really. You're supposed to be keeping an eye on me, right? Go where I go, keep me out of trouble? I don't see where maybe actually trying dating interferes with that, do you?"

Giovanna listened and nodded. That was all understandable. Andrew's Mom was notoriously worriable, certainly. And Father could be hard to understand, so she was relieved that didn't extend to her.
And he's got a point. There aren't many ways it would interfere. Before he got sick of her, anyway, but that was admittedly a premature concern.

"So," she managed a smile and said, in her best joking tone, which she didn't use often. "Better in a bathing suit than the Juggernaut. With hints like that, I don't know how I managed to wait this long."

Well, that, like several other things in the past few minutes, is New.
"That...that'll do." The floor becomes absolutely fascinating for just a moment, before she looks up and smiles. And then, in a businesslike tone he's a little more used to, "I don't really think we're going to get any more work done on this form today." She carefully slips additional weight onto one of the free weights. "How about you try burning off the charge -- at least it wasn't much -- and...and if you're interested in kissing again at a reasonable height, we can see about that."
