Coming home
She has a backpack on and a purse in her hand as she touches down on the ground outside of Xavier's School for Gifted Children.

It has been too long for Lyta since she's last been here. Far too long indeed. She's missed her home, her friends, her team.

She's already called ahead to make sure that her room is the same as she's left it. Dad's shipping in the rest of her luggage tomorrow. For now though, she has enough clothes to last.

Opening the door, Lyta steps in and grins.

"Hello!"

Corey looked up from the latest newsletter of his favorite charity and comes to the door.

"Lyta! Hi! How's it going?" He scrunches his newsletter in one hand and dusts off the other -- it only had a little dust on it -- to reach to shake hers.

"Oh, no way," came another voice, not far off from the doorway. "Lyta!"

"Hello Corey!" she shakes his hand, smiling. "I'm fine...now that I'm back home. It took me quite awhile, but I finally got that business management degree." She smirks, "I'm surprised that you didn't burn the place down while I was gone."

Her smirk widens. She knew that voice.

"Come here and give me a hug, Rachel."

"Congratulations. And nah, saving that for when the shortstack gets here." Corey insisted that he and Cait were just trying to prepare Uncle Scott for their baby brother.

And then he'll get out of Rachel's way.

"Not for lack of trying on his part," Rachel said, after she'd properly hugged Lyta.

"You're finally done with school then?"

Lyta hugs Rachel, her wings brushing against the other girl slightly. Rachel's grown accustomed to her wings, anyway. Most of the X-Men had. The ones that had known Lyta for a long time, that is.

"All finished," she says, smiling, "The X-Men now have one skilled businesswoman on their side."

"That's good. Because if someone else corners the slightly-hungry artist niche before I get a good chance, I'd really be bothered."

She smirks. "Don't worry. That can be your shtick. I was never really much of an artist anyway."

Rachel made a face in Corey's direction. "You are not gonna starve, Corey."

She turned her attention back to Lyta. "So you're going to beat the bad guys with math?"

Lyta chuckles. "That and with martial arts and telepathy. Though beating them with math might work best...they're not very bright for the most part."

" 'Course not. I'm too good to starve."

"Just don't do the school's taxes. Mom needs something to keep Dad busy in the spring. But I support any potential buttkicking-by-the-numbers."

"Super-Villain One oh One," Rachel said, quoting her dad, "never underestimate how stupid the bad guys can be."

"I won't...not that I wouldn't mind," she grins, "I'm certified now."

Another laugh escapes her. "Of course. We have come across ones that seem to have at least half of a brain."

"And sometimes, no matter how ridiculously stupid they seem, they can still really mess people up." Corey actually frowns a little, thinking of events earlier this year.
