Lucius had been very busy recently, making sure Merlin didn't end up homeless, having his old place cleaned out and refurbished so he could move in. At least him helping Merlin put both Narcissa and Evan in a good mood. His life was a lot easier when they were happy with him. A dinner spent terrifying Pansy's new boyfriend was going to be a nice change of pace. Something to relax him. He leaned back in his chair as he waited for Pansy and her boy to show up, taking a sip of scotch.

Theodore had worn purple so he and Pansy would match and picked her up from her flat in his car. "Anything I should know about before we go in?" he asked her, as they pulled up in front of the Malfoy's London house. "Warnings?"

	Pansy got out of the car with a small grin. Theodore could be charming. She quite liked him and she couldn't help it. She let him lead her to the door and smiled at Dobson as he let them in. "You look beautiful tonight," Theodore told Pansy, as they were led into what he assumed was the small dining room. "Lilac is your colour."

"Both your colours, apparently," Lucius said, getting to his feet as Pansy and her new boyfriend walked in. He certainly did look... gay. Lucius looked the boy over. "You must be Theodore Nott. Have a seat. Dobson, have dinner brought in."

	Pansy looked at Lucius and smiled at him. "He is Theodore Nott. Be nice, Daddy." She leaned in and kissed Lucius on the lips, then took a seat at the table. "What is for dinner tonight?" She asked as she placed the napkin in her lap. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"You know I'm not going to be nice," Lucius said, giving Pansy a fond smile as he sat down. He reached over and squeezed her hand briefly before leaning back in his seat. "You do look lovely tonight. We're having Cornish game hen with roast vegetables and mash. Something nice and simple. We'll have red wine, I think." He gestured for a girl waiting by the sideboard to poor the three of them a glass. "It's from the Rosier vineyards."

Theodore had been doing his research. He assumed that staying silent and letting Malfoy ignore him all night wasn't the best way to endear the man to him. "Is your partner going to be joining us tonight?" he asked. "I've heard good things about Rosier wine."

	"Have you? That will make my sister very happy." Evan replied as he came into the room, looking Theodore over. He noted the suit. At least the boy wasn't gay. He just had bad taste in clothing. "It's nice to meet you too, Sir," Theodore said, shaking Evan's hand. His suit was very nice, thank you. "Pansy's told me a lot about her childhood growing up here."

"Has she?" Lucius asked, raising an eyebrow and glancing at Pansy, trying to figure out if that was actually true. "We've always been happy to have her here. Narcissa likes children." He took a sip of his wine when it was poured. "Of course this dinner is for you."

	"Yes. I have." Pansy smiled at Lucius. "There's nothing I have to hide, really." She told him, giving him a very serious look. She'd hide the part about her real evil father, but she had told most of it. Evan grinned. "We did love having Pansy here when she was a child. Even more now. She can hold her liquor." Lucius nodded to Pansy in understanding. She'd told Nott the same version of the truth people like Draco knew, he assumed. Her parents were away a lot and not very naturally inclined towards taking care of their child, so she'd stayed with them. "Well, if I'm going to have a daughter I'm going to make sure she can handle her liquor, aren't I?" Lucius asked, smiling at Evan. He glanced at Theodore. "What about your family?"

"My father does business with you," Theodore said. Lucius probably knew that. Theodore smiled at the other man. He was going to win Lucius Malfoy over if it killed him. "He's in finance, mostly. I never knew my mother. She died when I was small."

	Pansy gave Theodore a sad smile. He seemed like it bothered him, not knowing what his mother was like or having even met her. She took his hand into her own and squeezed it gently, then turned her attention back to Lucius. "Theodore will be taking over for his father when he's old enough." She assured Lucius. Theodore nodded in agreement. "I'm expected to study at the London School of Economics," he said. "Maybe get an MBA, but I'll acquire work experience for someone else's firm before doing that, of course. I don't plan on making it easy for people to say I bought my way to the top."

Lucius raised an eyebrow at that. "It's good to see you've got ambition," he said, somewhat begrudgingly. "I wouldn't approve of Pansy being with someone content on resting on their family's name." He sighed. "My eldest son is a socialite."

	Evan snorted at that and shrugged. "Your eldest son is doing just fine, Lucius. Draco is a good boy and one day, he'll have it all figured out. Besides, his boyfriend is starting to piece his life back together. Perhaps Draco will see how hard it is." Pansy hesitated. "Theodore is actually friends with Merlin. It's how I met him. "Or perhaps Draco will wait for Merlin to piece his life back together and then continue on the way he always has, but as a Riddle and not a Malfoy. He might as well have been a daughter," Lucius said, frowning to himself and taking another sip of wine. He looked at Theodore when Pansy said he was a friend of Merlin's. "How do you know Merlin?"

"We're in a debate club together," Theodore said. "And a few other things. We enjoy competing with each other so we've always been good friends. I heard about what happened to him. Being kicked out of the house." He shook his head. "Merlin's very clever, though. I'm sure it won't slow him down much."

Theodore glanced at Pansy for a moment, reaching out and touching her thigh under the table. He felt terrible. He was supposed to be impressing Lucius Malfoy by proving he was good for Pansy. Not making Pansy feel bad by praising someone who she didn't get along with. "I'm going to hope that I was a good thing Merlin did for you," he told her. "But I'm sorry. I know you don't get along because he's so possessive of Draco."

He cleared his throat, looking up at Evan. "I go to St. Jude's boy school," Theo said. "I live in one of the hotels my family owns. I'm a member of several extracurricular clubs like the debate club Merlin and I are both part of, but I'm not particularly interested in politics, like most of the other boys. I'm more business minded."

	Evan nodded at that. "I think that's really good. I've never been one for politics, if I'm honest. I've got my vineyard with my sister and I sometimes help Lucius with things. When he lets me." Lucius laughed at that. "That's true, I suppose," he said. "Most of my business doesn't interest Evan very much. He's always liked being more hands on with things than I have." Lucius smiled at Evan. "More physical."

Theodore wasn't sure if he was witnessing flirting or not. He took Pansy's hand in his, squeezing it gently. "I'm not exactly clear on the business the Malfoys are in," he said.

"We're in a lot of things," Lucius said, waving a hand dismissively. "My father liked to spread his investments out and it's ended up with us having a finger in most pots, financially speaking, in England."

	"That's their business, really. Investing." Pansy told Theodore, shrugging. "They come from old money. Their family even dined with royalty and almost married into it. It's odd when some of your family is in a textbook." Evan leaned in and kissed Lucius softly, rolling his eyes. "Don't flirt. You'll make the children uncomfortable when I crawl in your lap." "I'd imagine so," Theodore agreed, smiling at Pansy. "My family doesn't really have that problem. We only started gaining wealth in the thirties. We're new money in comparison to the Malfoys for sure."

Lucius laughed, kissing Evan back and sliding his hand along the other man's thigh under the table. "I don't care," he said. "I might even like making Nott uncomfortable. He wants to date my daughter."

"When is your birthday?" Theodore asked, smiling at Pansy. He could think of things to buy her already, especially if she had a themed party. "I don't think I'd want to travel back to the forties. The Blitz would be on and I'd be conscripted."

"It's hardly going to be her only chance. She's a beautiful girl and I could easily give her some sort of dowry," Lucius said, glancing at Pansy and Nott sitting together, talking. She did seem happy with him. Lucius sighed. "I suppose he is from a good family and good looking enough."

	"You'd look handsome in uniform." Pansy laughed softly and touched his cheek. "My birthday is a couple of months from now. Why? Are you planning to buy me something nice?" "He's very handsome.
