Draco was supposed to be having lunch with Pansy and listening to her talk about her new boyfriend, but for the most part he was playing with his phone. It had been a week since he'd heard anything from Merlin and, given that the last time they'd seen each other Draco had had to leave for a while to give Merlin a break, he was starting to get worried. Plus, Merlin hadn't been at school and he hadn't answered Draco's texts asking how he was feeling and it just... It was worrying.

He put his phone down because, no, there still weren't any new texts from Merlin, and looked up at Pansy. "I can't believe Father actually approved of a man for you. It's got to be some sort of miracle."

Merlin was alone in the flat for the first time in a week, but only because Lucius had insisted that he go home. He rubbed at his chest where there was a bite mark, feeling guilty about everything now.

Because, despite what he'd done, he did love Draco. He'd just... resented him. Draco was the reason he had to do any of this in the first place. He sighed when he heard a knock at the door, walking over to open it. He stared at Draco and Pansy. "Hello."

Draco was so nervous about this his stomach was turning over on itself. He did his best attempt at a smile when Merlin opened the door. "Hi," he said. "We thought we'd come check in on you. Are you feeling better?"

He wasn't going to mention Merlin not responding to any of his texts. He wasn't going to be crazy. "I've got your homework from this week, just not... with me. This was kind of a spur of the moment thing."

	"Yeah. I'm feeling a bit better." Merlin nodded as he looked at Draco, feeling so guilty he felt like he was going to puke. He glanced at Pansy for a moment and frowned at Draco. "Pansy." Draco glanced at her, trying to psychically communicate how much he didn't want to talk about his insecurities right now. Hadn't she just been telling him he should be nicer to Merlin? "I'm sorry," he told Merlin. "We were out and I was being... I was worrying about you."

He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to Merlin's lips. "I'm glad you're feeling better. If you're still not up for company we can go. I can bring your homework by tomorrow night or something."

	"I want you here." Merlin told him, then glanced at Pansy. "I just don't like her." He wrapped an arm around his waist and pulled him against his chest, holding him there. He closed his eyes, hugging him, not letting him go. He was a horrid person and he'd hurt Draco. "I love you." He whispered against his ear, rubbing his back. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Draco relaxed, smiling a little when Merlin said he loved him. "I love you too," he said, wrapping his arms around the other boy and holding him close. He could tell Merlin felt bad about not returning his texts, which was nice.

He kissed his neck, pulling back a bit. "I know you and Pansy don't get on, but now your friend Theodore is her boyfriend you're probably going to see her around even more. She got permission from my father and everything."

"Poor Theodore." Merlin replied as he slid his hands down to Draco's bottom and pressed him close. He couldn't sleep with him, not with the marks on his body, but he could make him feel special again.

"That'll teach him to beat me in debate. I'll shove him with an even more awful girl." Merlin smiled and kissed Draco softly. "I'm sorry I didn't answer your texts. I was... not myself."

Draco laughed, kissing Merlin back. "Pansy isn't awful at all. I'm sure Theodore will be very happy with her," he said. "As long as he doesn't mess it all up and prove that he's not good enough for her."

He pulled back a little when Merlin apologised over the texts. "It's all right," Draco said, shaking his head. "You needed time to yourself. I know I can be... I know how I can get sometimes. I should be more understanding of what you're going through right now."

	"Are you insinuating that he's not good enough for her?" Merlin arched a brow at that and then kissed Draco's forehead. "I'd like to think he's too good for her, honestly."
