"Are you sure this is worth the trouble you're going to get yourself into?" Remus asked, looking around at the people crowding Sirius's mother's house. He thought they might actually know about half of them. The rest were all strangers, but when you made your end of summer party a public facebook event, this was what happened.

James slung an arm around Remus's shoulder, grinning at him. He's already consumed quite a bit of whiskey, but that was okay. Everything was wonderful and okay. "Moony, you are being so Moony," he said. "We start school tomorrow. We have to have a party. We have to have the best party. My parents won't let us have one in our house. Sirius's mother is in Paris. It's perfect. Where's Reggie? We'll get him drunk and he'll black out and won't remember to tell on us. Fool proof."

Remus opened the door to Sirius's mother's room and walked to her private loo, turning on the sink for Lily's shirt. "Who is it?" he asked, trying to think of people who had graduated who seemed like Lily's type. "Would I recognize the name if you told me?"

James laughed, turning to face Marlene and wiggling his hips at her. "Of course they do," he said. He reached out and took her hand, pulling her closer. "Dance with me. You can even keep your clothes on. I'll let you touch my abs and everything."

"Okay, okay," Remus said, smiling at Lily a bit. "I'll stop trying to get you to tell me who you fancy. You're right. I'm sorry about James. You know, he's really not that bad. He did give you his shirt." He paused. "Although he tends to take it off when he gets drunk anyway."

"Lily thinks I'm a loser," James said, wrapping his arms around Marlene and smiling at her. He appreciated kisses. "She has my shirt. You know she writes poetry about me? She told me so herself."

"James has a big heart," Remus said, shaking his head. "He's just been spoiled. When he cares about someone, he'd do anything for them. Trust me, Lily. He's not as bad as he always seems when he's around you. He's just bad at talking to people. He's better than Sirius, isn't he?"

"Yes," James said, pouting a bit. At least it meant that Lily was thinking about him though. If you got a girl thinking about you enough for her to write poetry, love could only be right around the corner. "My abs aren't that gross, are they?"

Remus smiled at Lily. "I know Sirius has many, many faults, but he's also the best friend I've ever had. He just... rubs people the wrong way sometimes. A lot of the time. He's a bit opinionated."

James glanced between Sirius and Marlene for a moment, then focused on Sirius, nodding in agreement. "Remus took Lily away from me," he said. "Because I spilled stuff on her shirt. I made really sure she knew Remus was a big fat homo, though. It's okay."

"He's always been rude to me." Lily pointed out as she ran some cold water over her shirt and then let it soak. She sighed, touching the shirt she was wearing and brought it up to her nose to sniff it. James smelled kind of good. "Do you fancy Sirius?"

Sirius led James towards where he knew Lily and Remus would be. "You've just got to apologise, mate. Just say you're sorry and that you'd like to dance with her. And that you'll buy her a new shirt."

"Because I don't think he's terrible?" Remus smiled at Lily. "Sirius is my friend. It would be silly to fancy him. Besides, I thought we weren't guessing who the other fancied anymore?"

James nodded, patting Sirius's arm. "I got it," he promised, and then burst into the bathroom where they were. "Lily!" he said. "I'm sorry and I want to dance with you and I'll buy you a new shirt, okay?"

James looked around the loo and then at Lily. "We could dance in the loo if you want to," he told her. "Or we could go downstairs and dance where there's music. Do you want me to sing? I could sing for you."

Remus snorted, glancing at Sirius. "He's doing much better now," he agreed. "I've been telling Lily how great he is so hopefully he won't mess all our hard work up again."

Lily gave James a skeptical look, but she felt kind of bad for him. Remus had done a pretty good job at talking him up, so he was giving him the benefit of the doubt. "Alright, Potter. We can go downstairs and dance. But, no groping."

"I'm sure the two kids will get together some day." Sirius said with a nod, wrapping an arm around Remus. "And if they don't, we'll make them give us grandchildren anyway."

James smiled at Lily and took her hand, bowing over it. "That's great," he said. "A great idea." He led her out of the bathroom. "Don't worry. Remus will watch your shirt and Sirius will watch Remus and talk about how he wants to shag him."

Remus laughed, glancing at Sirius. "I don't know how I feel about forcing grandkids out of them," he said. "At least you got James to keep his trousers on."

"You-" Lily looked back at James for a moment. "I feel sorry for Remus almost as much as I feel sorry for myself." But, she let James hold her hand as they walked. Why not? "Do you think Remus fancies Sirius?"

"That was no easy task. He was about to go off with Marlene." Sirius told Remus and then looked him over carefully. "You aren't going to hit on any of the boys here tonight?"

James laughed. "Dunno," he said. "Remus is quiet. He's probably into really kinky shit. The quiet ones always are. You'd like he'd let Sirius shag him if he did. I'm not even gay and I've snogged Sirius. Bit weird. Not too bad. He uses a lot of tongue."

"Me?" Remus gave Sirius a slightly surprised look and then laughed. "No. I doubt I'm anyone's type. I'm bookish." He shrugged. "People tend to prefer manlier men than me."

"I'm not gay," James repeated. "I like girls. And I didn't sleep with him. We just snogged. It was a dare. You kiss your mates on dares, don't you?" He smiled at Lily. "I wouldn't mind if you wanted to kiss a girl."

Remus laughed, reached up to scratch at his half-beard. "This is just from laziness," he said. "Nobody should have to shave as often as I do. Do you want to go downstairs? I'm sure Lily's blouse will be safe here."

"Yeah," James agreed, smiling at Lily. He reached up and touched her hair. "But you said you'd dance with me anyway. Come on." He led her into the room where everyone was dancing and wrapped an arm around her loosely, beginning to move their hips together.

"I think I'd need a bit more to drink before I snogged my friend," Remus said, smiling at Sirius. He pulled away from him as delicately as he could. Sirius snogged everyone. Remus was hoping to avoid snogs that didn't mean anything. "We're missing the party."

	When Lily had agreed to dance, she thought they'd dance like she'd seen in cheesy eighties movies. This was not like that. She looked up at James and pulled back slightly, dancing in front of him. James was a big sad when Lily pulled back, but she was still close to him and dancing so everything was wonderful. He smiled and wiggled his hips for her, then took her hand and spun her around. "You're graceful like a deer!"

Narcissa was just a little bit drunk because she didn't usually drink because her friends didn't normally have parties like this, but it was the end of the summer and Sirius had posted about it and she'd just bought a new dress, so why not? She stumbled into her cousin's path and then looked down at her shoes and frowned. "I'm not very good at heels when I'm drunk," she informed Sirius. "Aunt Walburga is going to kill you."

Remus let Sirius get a bit ahead of him before he left the loo. Hopefully Sirius would get distracted and stop trying to snog him tonight. And suggesting that the two of them shag.

"A... deer?" Lily asked and then laughed, letting him spin her around and move her. "I don't think that deers are very graceful. They kind of clunk when they run."

Sirius was slightly annoyed about the Remus situation. He looked at his cousin and sighed. "I'm hoping she does, after the night I've had."

Regulus had noticed Remus from across the room and figured he should go talk to him. He was alone and Remus was alone. "Hello." He said quietly. "Where did your friends go?"
