Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Being Tom Riddle's daughter frequently turned out to be more trouble than it was worth. For one thing, nobody had ever handed her a friendship like Merlin had been handed Draco's. She'd grown up with Merlin telling her that he and Draco didn't want to play with her and been too shy to ask Pansy if maybe she wanted to be friends, even though she knew Merlin wouldn't have minded that. At school, everyone acted afraid. Most Slytherin families tried really hard for boys anyway, and who was she supposed to be friends with, Astoria Greengrass?

She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Her father respected intelligence and ambition. She was descended from Salazar Slytherin. She could sit down with her father and have a frank conversation about her future. The worst thing he could do was... Well, honestly she didn't want to think about the worst thing he could do because the worst seemed pretty darn worst to her. Ending up married to some dirty old man in Albania or Romania or wherever he was trying to strengthen his hold in Europe. June put on her best dutiful daughter face and knocked on the door to her father's office. Narcissa had had her baby. Everyone had to be in a good mood now, right?

June blinked down at the picture of the little girl, bundled up in pink blankets. The black hair and big, grey eyes certainly didn't look like they'd come from Augustus, but she wasn't sure she saw Regulus's father in their either. She glanced at the photo and then at her dad and then back at the picture.

"I wouldn't be marrying his father," she pointed out. "And the Blacks have been prone to marrying their cousins for generations. You probably know wizarding genealogy better than I do. If Abraxas is sending you photos of her, he can't be that upset by it."
