Fred was still incredibly pissed off with most of his family, especially Ron and Bill. Though his parents hadn't exactly been brilliant about the whole thing. It seemed like everyone assumed George had lost his senses. They still believed all Slytherins were evil. He admitted, he had thought the same while at school, but he'd met one or two that were okay. Verity was a Slytherin, she was alright. Flint was fairly decent too, not that he'd spoken much to him. But he made Gred happy and that was all that mattered in Forge's book. Which was why he was cooking lunch for himself and George rather than getting ready to apparate back to the Burrow for their weekly family meal.

He was so angry, he couldn't think straight enough to actually cook anything proper. But he was hungry and he knew his Twin was too. He could always tell when there was something up with his Gred. Hell, there was a lot up with him at the moment. Not that Forge could blame him. But his Twin was definitely hungry. Slicing some cheese, he pulled out the grill pan from the oven and added it to the already toasted bread. Cheese on toast would be fine, especially six slices each, with soup - it was tomato, but technically that was fruit, not vegetable. Plus, there was Jelly and Cake for dessert.

'Gred! Lunch!' He called, setting the table and dishing up.

Fred watched until George started to eat again, the worried expression softening slightly with every sip of soup his Twin took. His own lunch was mostly gone, just a couple of slices of cheesy toast remained. A little smile curved his lips at Gred's words, when they were plotting everything seemed right with the world. He forgot about what was going on outside to concentrate on what he was creating. Call it therapy of sorts, at least for him anyway.

As soon as Gred looked away from him; he knew that his Twin was about to open up a little. Yes, he wasn't good with emotions, but he'd always help George with his if he could. Even if it was just by listening to his troubles. As identical blue eyes locked with his, Fred chewed on the inside of his lip, feeling exactly what his twin was in that second. 'I know Greddie... I know it does.'

He nodded, agreeing with George's outburst and trying to think of something to say that would help. 'Well, we all know they don't trust my judgement anyway. Not since I tried to get Ron to make an unbreakable vow.' Reaching out he touched his fingertips to Gred's fist. 'You and me against the world, yeah? Face it together, even our own family being tosspots.'

If anyone else had told him they knew how he felt, George would have called them a liar. Fred, on the other hand, knew. It was too hard to explain to anyone else how Fred knew, he just did. Call it 'Twin Sense' or whatever.

George's fingers uncurled from the fist they were in at the touch of Forge's fingertips - the tense muscles relaxing slightly. Fred wasn't as tactile as him but Gred knew exactly what each little fraction of a gesture meant coming from his Twin. He looked at their hands and then nodded, appreciating what his Forge said.

"You and me..." he murmured softly, mimicking his brother. Gred looked up again and offered a soft, genuine smile that he only ever gave to Forge. "Don't need anyone else."

At that, there was a snort from one of the pups and George looked over at them, a tiny chuckle escaping him at the innocent looks on their faces. "Alright, Gred and Forge and Nessie and Caff... we can all face it together." He wasn't back to being a hundred per cent his normal Georgie self, but he did feel a little better.
