Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry

For someone who really didn't like the thought of ever appearing on Gossip Girl, Lucy spent a lot of time reading it. It was hard not to be aware of it when her brother and his friends were on the site almost constantly and the rest of the school was obsessed with it. At least, that was what she told herself. It wasn't her fault and she definitely wasn't buying in.

Lucy fell onto a bench next to Neville outside the school, handing him a coffee. "So, I hate to be the one to break it to you, if I am, but you lost your Gossip Girl v-card last night. You and Daphne kissed in front of someone with a cell phone who knew who she was."

Mason frowned at that. "I don't want to make you miss class or anything." He told her as he held onto her hand and led her out to where his bike was. "I feel kind of bad about it, but you're a big girl. You can make your own decisions."

He held out the helmet to her. "I don't want to call it a date because it won't be as great as the first."

"There will have to be a second date at some point. Don't worry. My bar is set lower for this one. I'm not expecting any wild parties or famous people to be involved," Lucy promised Mason, putting the helmet on.

She kissed his cheek. "Don't feel bad. I don't skip often and you're only here for three days. It'll be fine."

Mason nodded and got on his bike. He drove for a little while until they got to a small, run down diner that he really liked to go to. He stopped his bike outside of it and waited for her to get off before he got off himself.

"It's not amazing, but the food is." Mason told her as he put his helmet on the bike, then slid his hand into hers. "I kind of dig your uniform, though."

Lucy laughed, taking off her helmet and looking down at her school uniform. "Good, because I don't have a change of clothes with me," she said, flouncing her plaid, pleated skirt out a bit. "And now I know the schoolgirl look does it for you."

She leaned in and pecked Mason on the lips, looking at the diner. "I love coming to places like this, don't worry. Just because my family is rich doesn't mean I'm a snob."

"I didn't think you were a snob. I thought you were a girl." Mason pointed out as he looked at her, then leaned in and kissed her softly, pressing her close to his chest. He closed his eyes and rested their foreheads together briefly, then pulled back.

"Sorry." He laughed softly and led her into the diner. He took a look around, smiling to himself. "What would you like to eat? No salads."

"Don't apologise for kissing me. I like it," Lucy told Mason. She walked into the diner with him and slid into a small booth. "I don't know. They probably have excellent sandwiches here, right? I'll get a grilled cheese or something."

She grinned at Mason. "I'd like to think I'm not a normal girl either. So is the rest of your band back in England too?"

"Yeah. We're all in England now." Mason told her as he slid into the booth beside her. He smiled and kissed her neck, just because she'd given him permission to kiss kiss where whenever he wanted.

"What have you been up to?" Mason asked. "I've started reading Gossip Girl, but you're never on it. So I don't get to see you."

Lucy laughed. "You have no idea how glad I am that I'm never on it," she told Mason, leaning against him. She took his arm, wrapping it around her shoulders. "Although if I keep doing things like leaving school on the back of a motorbike, I'm liable to end up on it at some point."

She shrugged. "I'm pretty boring. I've just been doing school work, mostly. My brother is sick, which is hell. He's the worst sick person ever, but he spent the first few days of it with someone else, mysteriously, so at least we missed that. He acts like he's dying every single time he gets a sniffle."

"Well. You could follow him around and see where he's going." Mason pointed out with a laugh. "If you want to spice up your life a bit. You have to take charge. Grab the bull by the horns and fuck it's throat."

He paused. "Sorry. That's something my friend Radley says."

Lucy laughed, and then Mason's friend's name clicked in her mind. There couldn't be that many people named Radley, could there? "He sounds like fun," she said. "What does he do? I has a massage therapist named Radley once."

She really hoped her face wasn't saying 'and I fucked him.' "It's embarrassing. I used to be a ballet dancer. I screwed up my leg so I do all this physical therapy stuff for it now. I think my trainer knew him or something? Usually I have this intense Swedish lady."

"You were a ballet dancer?" That part was much more interesting than his friend Radley, but he nodded. "Yeah. My mate is probably your massage dude, then. He always complains about his job because his brother is some professor or some shit."

He picked up the menu and looked it over, then ordered a burger when the girl arrived.

Lucy ordered herself a grilled cheese and some chips. Probably if Radley just complained to Mason he didn't mention fucking his clients. Even if he did, it wasn't like she and Mason were together or anything. It wasn't a big deal. It had happened before their date.

"Yeah, I was a dancer," she said, tucking a bit of hair behind her ear. "It's my embarrassing past. I flounced around in tutus and weighed next to nothing and spent all my time practicing. There are some horrifying pictures of me. Hold on." Lucy pulled out her phone, flipping through it and finding an old picture of herself all dressed up before a recital when she was thirteen. "Here. That was me."

Mason looked down at the picture and grinned. "Oh my god. You were adorable." He said, then pulled out his phone. "You have to send me that. I want to look at it always and make it the background of my phone."

He texted her a heart and laughed. "I have embarrassing things as well. Here." He flipped to a photo. "This is me and my science project when I was thirteen. I wanted to be a chemist."

Lucy snorted, nudging Mason with her shoulder. "You are not making a picture of a thirteen-year-old girl the background of your phone. But I am sending it to you."

She texted him the picture and then looked down at the photo of Mason and laughed. "Look at you. You look like such a nerd. It's way more obvious you belong to your dad looking at that picture. Holy cow."

"It's not just any girl. It's my-" Mason paused and then laughed. "I mean, it's you. You know?" He shrugged, then leaned in, pressing a sweet kiss to her nose.

Mason pouted at her. "I don't look that bad, do I?" He asked. "My dad is so horrible looking."

Lucy smiled when Mason kissed her nose. He was so sweet. She laughed, leaning against him. "I know," she said. "Did you just almost call me your girlfriend?"

She kissed his pout and shook her head. "I didn't mean like that. I mean you look like a proper chemist. Like Professor Snape."

Lucy was adorable. He smiled a bit at her and shrugged. "Yeah. I did. But, we agreed that until I'm done with my traveling that we can't date. Actually, you did."

He took her hand into his own. "So for now, you're just my Lucy."

"That's true. I did say that," Lucy agreed, looking down at Mason's hand on hers. Dating before they were both in the same country was kind of a bad idea, right? "Maybe I was wrong about my rule. I mean, this is going well."

She grinned at him. "I could be your girlfriend as well as your Lucy. You did bring me a flower. And it makes the fact that you have a picture of a thirteen-year-old in a tutu on your phone less creepy."

"Well, honestly. The picture wasn't taken that long ago." Mason told her with a small grin. "What, maybe two years old? I'm just creepy."

He leaned in and kissed her softly. "Will you be my girlfriend?"
