Scorpius had slept with James Potter. It was a weird feeling, walking around Cepheus and James's flat, after that. He certainly didn't feel the same way about the couch anymore. And he and James had spent a day now acting like it never happened. Scorpius wanted to talk about it. He wanted to tell someone so he could keep remembering that it was real and it was supposed to be a step forward, having rebound sex. Now it would be easier for him to not be in love with Albus forever.

Scorpius sat beside his brother on the couch, chewing on his bottom lip as he contemplated his take-out Chinese food, and then decided it was time to give in and gossip. James had said they weren't together. "Something happened while you were out yesterday."

	"You're also a Potter." Cepheus told him, shaking his head. "And you've been a play boy almost all of your life. I'm sure you can bounce back from this. I'm just another boy in a long line of boys." "I don't want your brother," James said, shaking his head. "You're not just another boy. You're the boy. You're the one."

Cepheus was wrong. James knew he was wrong. This wasn't something he'd be able to just... bounce back from. "I only had sex with your brother because he reminded me of you. I thought you didn't want me for keeps. I thought if I had sex with him I might be able to stop feeling this way, but I can't. I won't. I don't want to anymore. I thought about you the whole time."

Scorpius had gone home to his dads' place because he wasn't sure where else to go after he left Cepheus's flat. He felt horrible. In the space of a week, he'd managed to ruin his relationships with both his best friends. Maybe he should just move back to New York and start again.

He was sitting on the couch, nursing a strawberry-banana smoothie because it was the closest thing to junk food his parents and Martin kept in their house, when the door opened and Cepheus walked in, looking devastated. Scorpius should definitely just flee the country and start again somewhere else. "I can go," he said, getting to his feet before Cepheus could say anything. "I'll... I'll figure out somewhere else to stay."

Cepheus looked at Scorpius with his smoothie and shook his head. He didn't want his brother to have to leave the house because of him. It hadn't been his fault.

"No. It's fine." Cepheus told him, shaking his head. "It's really okay. We can both stay here. I don't hate you. I'm upset, but I don't hate you." He ran a hand through his hair. "I need to figure out somewhere to live."

"Yeah, me too," Scorpius said, sighing and sitting down again. "I'm really sorry, Phe. I'm glad you don't hate me, but I wouldn't blame you if you did. I'd deserve it."

He ran a hand through his hair. "I'll share my smoothie with you if you want. Dads aren't home, but Martin made it for me. He said he used a little extra agave." Scorpius played with his straw for a moment. "I think maybe I should go back to New York."

"I don't think that you should go back to New York. You've got too many friends here and people who love you." Cepheus told him, shaking his head.

"You should stay here. We'll get a flat together." Cepheus told him with a shrug. "Xavier wants to sell our flat anyway. Maybe we could just move in there together and he could move in with Caspar or something. It'd be nice."

Scorpius hesitated, but getting a flat with Cepheus did sound nice, actually. He and his brother got along well. They liked each other. It made sense.

"Okay," he said, nodding in agreement. "Are you sure you want to move in to the place where you were going to love with Xavier? You know Dad would give us a flat in any of his buildings. You could take your time decorating it. Do everything from scratch. Keep yourself busy, you know?"

"I don't know. I just got a flat from Dad for James and I." Saying his name made Cepheus's heart hurt. He reached up and rubbed at his chest, then shook his head. "We could get another one. It'll be a lot better than the one room studio you were living in before."

He leaned against Scorpius and sighed. "Guess we'll both be dealing with heart ache. Maybe we should both bang the porn star. Threesome. That'll help, right?"

"I liked the studio," Scorpius said, wrapping his arm around Cepheus's shoulders. "It was really nice, living on top of each other like that. Just always being aware of what the other person was doing. Dad hasn't given me a flat yet. I could get one from him and we can both live there. He didn't think I should be living in a tiny studio with zero security either."

He laughed at Cepheus's suggestion, looking down at him. "The porn star has a crush on Lavinia now," Scorpius said. "But he's really nice. Maybe he'll introduce us to his friends." He leaned his head back against the couch. "I hate this. The way I feel. I hate that I made you feel like this too. Everything just... sucks."

"It's not completely your fault. It's James's fault." Cepheus shook his head, wrapping an arm around his brother. He sighed softly. It was all fucked up and there was no getting around it. But, he wasn't going to yell at his brother about it. There was no point.

"James knew not to do it. And he did it anyway." Cepheus replied. "He knew that he and I were kind of a thing. You didn't."

"You were right, though," Scorpius said, shaking his head. "I should have figured it out. We're twins. We're supposed to have a psychic bond or something. We're at least supposed to be good enough friends that I can tell when you fancy someone as much as you fancied him."

He ran his fingers through Cepheus's hair, petting at him. "Albus was right about me being selfish. God. I'm sorry, Phe. This is all so fucking horrible. What are we going to do?"
